I pulled mine out and it was leaking just where I thought it was. I poked four holes through with a screwdriver, all in the same area where the plastic wire protector was contacting the tube. I didn't even price the "Heater Supply Tube" at the dealer since my brother had already priced a "Heater Return Tube" at $260. back in Oct. I stuck a wire wheel in my drill cleaned up the holes heated it good and hot put a couple heavy doses of flux to it and solder it. I dosed it a couple times during soldering too. It took real nice but I have to admit I dropped a lot of solder on the floor but when done it's more solid then the rest of the tube. The rest of the tube was in good shape, it was just that one spot. First time I ever had much luck soldering steel! I put it all back together filled it with antifreeze tried the bleeder but it was siezed and the base turned in the cover I pumped the rad hose to force the antifreeze through and notice steam coming from the exhaust with each squeeze. Yep! The Return tube was gone too! And I mean GONE! Lucky I had the directions I asked for here in Oct to remove that one, even though my brother took his car to a garage to have it repaired I'm much too cheap! I was deciding how to make a new one when my brother returned home and told me the garage just replaced his with rubber heater hose. "What that close to the exhaust manifold?" I said. "Yes and it's still holding!" was his reply. I ran mine up from the water pump along side the power steering then horizontally by the coolant tank then connected it to the shortened return tube about 1" from the T which I also turned horizontally instead of down. Oh ya and I held it all in place in about 4 places with zip ties.
It seems to be working fine. So far! Fingers crossed! I figure I saved $400. - $600. repairing and doing it myself. Thanks again for the help! This is a great site!
