That why I did not use the angle cats because I could not tuck them up tight enough. Glad you have it figured out.

I didn't either, I used the straight inlet/outlet cats, and got them up in the tunnel so nothing hits. I skipped the flex pipes, and so far haven't had any clanging or banging from underneath. I gotta get some pictures and put em in my own thread and stop hijacking yours!

Update on this thread....after replacing the passenger side flex pipe in March, I have had zero codes for O2 sensors. My guess is the braiding in the cat was diminishing the exhaust flow, causing the inefficiency codes.

Last week, I had to have the drivers side flex replaced as it was blown up from the inside out. No issues with codes on the drivers side O2 sensors either.

Yeah Squilly, you didn't get the memo, but you are verboten to perform the 3.5 swap on your car until the 2.7 is stone cold dead!!

You could (in theory) use an entire 1G setup, but there are some issues you would have to overcome. First, the converter, you would have to go from a dual in - single out to at the very least a dual in - dual out w/ O2 sensor bungs on each outlet. IMO, much easier to go with single in - single out converters. Secondly, I don't know how the rear of the system (going around the gas tank and such) differs if any from the 2G design. Might need some tweaking through there.

With those two things said, IMO it is best to go the route I did...

Anyone still have the pics from this thread? Motor has to come out of my car (rod bearing). Converters are likely also shot..was dealing with a lot of o2 codes over the last year. Sounds like this was a worthwhile endeavor.

I joined just to ask you something shadow .

I have the ebay obx prowler headers im looking to install on a 2002 300m special. Me and my exhaust buddy are going to put them on. His shop will charge me obviously so i haven't pulled the trigger.
I bought them new for 225.
To me it looks like the the ''Log portion only'' of the headers will fit. He's claiming since im doing a true dual full cusom exhaust that the can use the down pipes that come with the headers. Any truth to that?

Id figure i ask you since you have quite some experience fitting custom exhaust to 300m special.

In my limited knowledge i'm thinking the log portion of the headers-nix the prowler down pipes- to a true dual 2.25 custom exhaust.
If prowler exhaust manifolds are the same, not sure why these obx headers minus down pipes wouldn't work?

Also fyi. I understand that the consensus is prowler headers Don't work on lh cars.
But the prowler obx ''headers'' on ebay are basically glorified high flow log exhaust manifolds with down pipes.

Welcome.

Sorry to inform you that Tom passed away last year. No harm - innocent mistake.

Hopefully someone can answer your questions. Not my area of expertise.
