Hey guys, howz it been? I've been busy trucking with this new company. They are giving choice runs, with good miles. I left my current LHS in California when I flew to New Mexico, for a truck assignment. I debated giving the LHS to a family member, and getting somthing newer, well its been sitting 2 months and I miss that living room on wheels. I decided to fly back to Caifornia, and drive it 1450 miles back to Clovis Nm.
I've owned 50 plus cars in my 41 years on this earth. Everything from a 71 Karman Ghia, to a mint Mercedes 420 SEL. That benz was tank, but the maintenance and parts killed me. I've decided the LHS has been the best all around car for the money, so now I want another one next to my 94. I'm not sure on the gen 2's. Are there some things I should look out for? I know the engine compartments are tight and less diy friendly. I may just pick up another gen 1. I love these in black. I'd appreciate any input..
Here is a pic of one I found in South Carolina. I'd be willing to fly anywhere in the country, provided the miles, price, and conditions are right. Hint to memebers looking to adopt out thier LHS.
BTW... I noticed this one has a colum shifter. I thought all the LHS, 1st and 2nd had console shifters? ?
I just noticed the missing turn signal lens. I wonder if he would come down $1500 on the price because of that?
I only paid $1400 for my 94, with 30,000 less miles. I will more than likey shop around for a few months still. A quick search finds almost 800 LHS cars, within a 3 hr flight from me. I do like black though. They are harder to find.
I don't think the column shifters were offered in every model though. I know they were offered in intrepids (seen a few at the yard before) and I'm sure the LHS offered them because the design caters to the "old man" car.
The mileage isn't such a big deal to me as the car will driven maybe 2000 miles a year. More or less this second Chrysler will be my sunday car. I have my 94, that serves as a road trip car. I really don't even need 1 car. The company gives me 30 miles a day for personal use. I just gotta drop the trailer somewhere, and the tractor will fit neary anywhere a uhaul truck will. I just like having wheels for that spontaneous 800 mile trip twice a year.
This 2nd car probably will never leave town, however I did find a few LHS cars in the 50,000 range for 3-6k more. If it was a daily driver, I'd save a lil longer for one of lower mile specimens.
Regarding your ES, I'd definitely be interested in that. My company has runs going up and down the 5 daily, from LA to Seattle. When I can get up that way, I'll shoot ya a PM if that's ok? I do appreciate the help here on this site. Wish it was more active, but people get bored of thier cars and more to something more fancy. How could you get bored of these cars? Lol!
Anyways, I'll still be looking on line for the perfect deal.
i paid 3500 for my 2000 lhs with 100k and immaculate 3 years ago. (i had to do the tb/wp)
wonder if the tb/wp has been done. unless it's absolutely mint, it's not worth more than 1500, 2000 if the tb/wp have been changed.
Got it. The BB on these cars varies greatly across the country. I was using that black lhs as an example how how well these look in black. I may end up grabbing a G2 from one of the members here. I do like the gauges and front ends on the G2. Do the G2 guys have issues with the headlights putting out weak light? Its sad that I drive with the hi beams on and never get flashed by oncoming traffic.
I like how everyone appreciates thier cars here. At the moment, things are to hectic for time off, however word is we will slow down in May. Looks like that's when I'll be bringing home a second car. :Rockin:
Guys feel free to PM me with what you have. The cleaner it is, the more likely I am fly out and check it out. I would need a lift from the airport though. Again, thanks for the help guys.
Are your headlights yellow or do the people around there just not care? Sounds like you sir may be an arsehole.
Even my 2000 trep has gotten flashed with high beams on (deserving), sometimes with low beams. But no matter how many times I flash on coming traffic, only 1 in 20 ish turn their headlights back to lows.
Sorry about the late response. I had a med emergency regarding my B.P exceeding Hypertension 1.
Anyways, please re read my statement about how dim my lights are even with the hi beams on. I dont run with them on everywhere I go, so Its wise not to be childish and be a keyboard Rambo. I have a 94, yours is a 00? Big difference in headlight design. I have since fixed the issue of the low beams, in case you loose sleep over something you mis read. Thank you kind sir.
that's because so many have converted to high intensity light kits that have no low.
bastards should be rounded up and thrown in jail as far as i'm concerned.
my 95 new yorker wasn't great for light on lows, and my 2G is a little lite on light for low too in some conditions.
mostly like around the edges of a city where street lights are few, but make yours a bit ineffective. out on a dark highway they're not bad on low.
and allpar says the new yorker was only til 94. (mine was a 95. hmm.)
so they must of had a bench seat option for the lhs after the new yorker name was dropped.
Maybe more like they had a bunch of bench seats sitting around the plant and had to ditch them somewhere. LOL! I wouldn't have put anything past the line techs in those days.
I ended up getting a '99 300M and even before I cleaned up the headlights, I was incredibly impressed at how bright they are on Hi & Low
