Hello everyone! I am going to replace the factory speakers in my 1997 Intrepid. It’s the base model with the 3.3 in it. I was wondering if you guys think these will fit in the front doors:

https ://www.amazon.com /gp/product/B00B9H8L4 K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2PCHXSYSMTA8S

I’m replacing the back 6x9s with these:
https ://www .amazon.com/gp/product/B00BRXNH0E/ ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AJYZ22R6PYFT6

Thanks!:Rockin:

*You'll have to remove the spaces in the urls... I guess you can't post them without having 10 posts. (Which is stupid)

I want to put 6.5s in there... idk if I want to mess with cutting or anything though.. can you link to the how to? here is the link again

htt ps:// www .amazon .com/gp/product/B00B9H8L4K/ ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AJYZ22R6PYFT6

Remove the spaces for the link to work. (I can't post links yet I do not have enough posts.)

Thanks ~Matt

Like Dave says in post #2. You'll need to cut/modify the door panels to put 6.5" speakers in.

So I replaced the speakers (I didn't have to modify the door panel, rigged the wire guard covering the speakers instead)
They sound like ****. They sound staticy and distorted. I am thinking I need to replace the head unit? The front speakers have 100watt rms with 300 watt max and the rears are 150 watt rms and 450w max. So could the problem be that the speakers are under driven? I am new to car audio and do not know what to look for. Polarity is correct, all wires were crimped properly... :ahh:

Are the speakers sitting flush with the door panel?

All 4 speakers sound bad? Or just the fronts?

How about a picture of the front door install? You've got over 10 posts now so you should be able to do that.

Everything is flush, I don't think it is the way they are installed. They are super secured and my father and I even used dynomat for sound proofing on every speaker as well. It sounds like there's interference or static all the way around. Could it be a grounding problem? If that is a possibility how would I check that? All 4 speakers sound like it... Does anyone know what the stock head units output is? I will upload a picture of the fronts just because you asked though, hopefully I can fit it into my schedule tomorrow (Full time college student athlete).

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help.

Was there anything wrong with the stock speakers that you needed to replace them?

If not then maybe try putting a pair of stock speakers back in and see what happens.

What would change for grounding if you installed speakers only?

Personally...I would've upgraded the Headunit/Radio before changing speakers if there wasn't anything wrong with the original speakers.

Most radios without a factory amplifier have pretty low output ratings. Do you have to turn the volume way up now with the new speakers to get any noise?
