93 3.3L random hesitating acceleration

93 3.3L is randomly irregularly hesitating unevenly during acceleration when hot or cold doesnt matter. seems maybe a lil worrse when cold though. possibly. when sitting in gear stopped it often has a cylinder misfire kind of a shake in it, but sometimes not.

its really random irregular and the car will often surge and then lose power during acceleration. at higher speeds is smoother alot more. coasting etc.

its drivable but its pretty bad and its not getting any better. i am stumped. must be some kind of lean misfire. no smoke or fuel smells or leaks or anything at all. 292k miles bone stock all original. no CEL light on ever. cant run codes anyways since its an ODB 1.5

the only thing i have done different with it recently is i put 10w40 in it and its really cold out side here still. but its 10w cold same as any other 10w oil so i dont know how this may cause any issues with lifters etc if it evne has any,. who has any ideas?

i think im gonna replace the old original cam sensor sine it has a history of stalling out no restarting in the past, which is miraculously came out of and hasnt done for many years now,. never was diagnosed. and when i replaced the timing cover gasket seals a couple years ago and messed with the CPS it ran like brand new awesome. well until now.

does a bad MAP sensor set off CEL code? OBD 1.5?

i unplugged this sensor with it idling and it went rough a second then smoothed out and sped up a little and runs smooth great but the CEL light came on.

i plugged it back in and restarted it and the light went out and it runs smooth fine so far. but i havent driven it,.

still will be cheaper to fix than replace. this vehicle, so..
thx

ok its gotten way worse today. it barely will evne get out of its own way. i removed air filter jut to see if maye it was suffocating, but nope actually made it a little worse, like too muxh air and not enough fuel or something. i tried driving it with the MAP unplugged and that was evne worse. and with the TPS unplugged it wont upshift, so thats a no-go. it starts right up no problem but just barely is driveable. weak and surges and irregular and all messed up when trying to drive it.

im thinking fuel pressure, but it fires up no problem and usually when a FP is dying they dont start at all. but will sometimes run still, once you fire it up with some external fuel into the TB unit. but this one doesnt need help starting.

so i dont know. being that it seems ot be too lean and way worse with more air, less intake air resistance it leads me to believe its lean fuel issue.

it has champion plugs and im gonna pull them and see if any of them show anything that i can learn anything from. maybe,.

pulled #2 and #4 spark plugs out and they are very tan colored and alot of dry crusty deposits. i dont put any additives in the fuel ever. never have either. plugs are totally dry and no oil or anything. the center electrode porcelain is worn and missing some porcelain on outside side of it in one spot. a little rough or worn. the pass side ones #1 and #3 and #5 are good shape no deposits and fine compared to the driver side. RN14MC5 i replaced these three plugs and also plugged the vac hose to the injector fuel rail. no change. still uneven running/hunting

Id check out the map sensor. sounds similar to what mine was doing after i changed the lower intake manifold gasket. I swapped the map out for a known good one and it instantly ran like a champ. I had no codes at he time.

yeah i definitely saw and researched tried that. no change at all. and still no engine light anything ever yeah, would a MAP sensor failure come and go randomly? wut about crank sensor? on these 3.3L ? im thinkng that these early 1.5 OBD systems dont have more thna a dozen trigger codes for the CEL to illumunate. i bet. so could really be alot of things and would never know by CEL codes. etc. right? i guess i could go research up a list of 1.5 codes for chryslers and see if there are codes for MAP and CKPS etc specifically?

still has a lil flutter in the accelleration but is almost totally gone again now and back with normal power again.

its a random thing and goes away as mysteriously as it comes/happens. few weeks at a time

apparently its not repairable and just have to live with it.

it was super very bad pretty much barely driveable almost stalling at stops and all screwed up chugging and missing and no power at all but surging too. crazy... i dunno wtf,. im really thinking lack of fuel injection issue maybe crank sensor fuel curve issue? it acts like not enough fuel weak lean bad
but who really knows.
just gonna drive it til it wont run no more and scrap it finally, it looks like, its been on borrowed time and mileage already for a long time anyways,. cars dont last forever.

ok you win, you were right. i just checked voltage coming from the sensor with vacuum applied to it and its stuck at 4.99 volts even with vauum on it. so its dead. somehow voltage from system is 4.84 volts. why would signal voltage to the PCM be higher than what is spplied to it from the PCM ?
weird..

i was checking for signal to PCM on the purple wire.. hope thats it.
middle wire is ground from PCM definitely though

thx
