Difficulty locating part.

Hey guys I'm new to the group. I have a 1997 intrepid, when I got the car it was missing most of the screen under the windshield wipers. ( I'm not even sure what it's called.) Since I have had it it has all broken off. I have looked around and can't find anywhere to get a replacement. Does anyone have any ideas of places I could find this. Thanks

Is it item number 7 in this drawing? That's the Screen Cowl. It's no longer in production P/N's are 04805021 04805022 04805023. It looks like an auto salvage yard is your best bet. Unless some one on the forum has an extra one.

You should post your location when posting threads. If someone has the item you're requesting they can't tell you what it might cost to ship. Another thing is we have several members outside of the USA so your location is important.

Do you have a budget for this item?

Can't believe there aren't a ton of 1st Gen Intrepids out there in yards. But again that goes back to your location. 1st Gen Intrepids should all have the same Wiper Cowl but I'm not 100% sure.

Answer those questions and someone should be able to help.

Question for you, Spiro:

With your cowl missing, do your windshield wipers "fly"? Meaning, do they lift off the glass at highway speed? When I got my 94 back on the road, the cowl was destroyed, so I took off the few bits that were still screwed on. Weeks later I reinstalled the wiper module (easier to do an engine swap without it, and with no rain in the forecast, I deprioritized it's reinstallation for later). Ever since, my wipers both lift a little off the glass at highway speed and they leave big swaths of unwiped glass behind them. I even replaced the blades thinking the old ones were a bit limp, but that doesn't have an effect. The only thing I can think of is that the cowl might help keep air that enters though the grill from coming up between the hood and glass and it keeps the wipers from lifting off. Your experiences would be helpful in my troubleshooting.
