94 3.3L dying while driving, temp gauge goes out before dying...HELP!!
Need you expertise!
My 94 3.3l works pretty good, but sporadically it starts to die on me...But before it does, the temp gauge goes all the way down, just as if I had turned the car off, but only that gauge, the tachometer, fuel gauge and speedometer still work…And a few seconds later, the car dies while driving…I suspect it happens when reaching operating temperature.
After it dies, I have to try 3 times before I can get it to start again. That was a few days, but now in top of it, it idles high (Usually idles 500-600 RPM) up to 1,500 RPM.
Another precedent is that the car rarely starts on the first try (And it cranks roughly), I have to give it a second attempt and it starts right off like it should.
Recently, I’ve changed the radiator fan connector as it was melted and it was intermittently operating the fans…And living in Mexicali, Baja Mexico, where we can have 120-130 F easily, overheat is a given. The dying problem seem to have switch into high gear after the connector replacement.
I’ve read that maybe the camshaft sensor could be the one…But I don’t understand why the temp gauge goes first before dying…
