Relearn Procedures

Does anyone know how to relearn the computer? I've read that when the computer is in need of the relearn it can cause the following problems:

-Rough Idle
-Hesitation or Stumble
-Rich or Lean Running
-Poor Gas Mileage
-Harsh or poor transmission shift quality

If anyone can tell me how to do this without a special tool, I'd be really happy.

If anyone wants a free copy of the first gen shop manual on CD, tell me (I'd send it online).

First Gen Shop manual? I would love one please!
As far as I know, you can reset the computer by removing the left battery terminal for a few hours. This allows the computer to relearn everything as it is driven.

the shop manual has the instructions on how to do it i believe
disconnecting both terminals to the battery for about 15 minutes should do it. after that you will have to drive the car through a series of relearn tests to get the optimum performance
the instructions in the manual can be found under engine - general information, then scroll to a link that says engine relearn

if you disconnect the battery for more than 20 minutes you should be back in "learn" mode

As far as the manual goes....it is 44 mb, can't be sent by email. But if you have AOL Instant Messenger, I can send it to you. Tell me your modem type, and when you will be online. Thank You.

The tranny controller (TCM)? It requires a scantool.

The engine controller has no "learning" feature that I'm aware of. I've been wrong many times before though. ;) AFAIK, the PCM either monitors the O2 sensors and adjusts engine operation real time (closed loop), or it refers to a preset program (open loop).
