3.5 Timing Belt/Water Pump Repair

As a note to the Webmasters, this repair and tips should be posted as a "sticky notes" too due to the very common occurence of these problems with the chrysler 3.5 engine. I just finished with the repairs, and diagnosing the problem was so much easier with what I had read in the past on this site. I knew right away what had happened, had it towed to my house and did the repairs myself sucessfully all with tips from this site. New timing belt, water pump, and METAL (not plastic) idler pulley & tensioner and I'm back on the road with my luxurious LHS! There are 3.5L water pumps going bad every day all over the country, lets try and help some of these people out!

Bump....was looking for a 3.5L water pump replacement procedure in the How-To's, but only see one for 3.3L.
Have spent 30 mins. searching the threads for a procedure.

Not exactly a how-to, but good for pictures and discussion.

all you have to do is remove the fans, accessory belts, accessory belt tensioner, timing cover, timing belt, remove water pump, put in new one, and reinstall everything.

I've done this many times and never had to remove the fans.

I replaced the cam seals when I did mine. All that oil slop in there drove me crazy.
They were like $4 at NAPA, and took 5 minutes to change.
