Ground stud located on driver's side of console?

I am making up a cable to send to someone to install with a device on their 1st gen. Intrepid. Trouble is, I need to know where a certain ground attachment point is, and I don't have a 1st gen. car to look at.

On the 2nd gens., there are two 6 mm ground studs located just to the right of the gas pedal on the left side of the console hump - right under the carpet. Normally that's where I attach the ground wire of this cable (ring terminal on the end of the wire, sized to fit the 6 mm ground stud).

2nd gen - looking at drivers side of console, gas pedal on left of photo, ground studs hidden under carpet (see next photo):

Same view with carpet pulled back slightly to reveal ground studs under the air bag module:

Ground locations figure from 1st gen. FSM is below. Is the radio/ATC/air bag module ground point (arrow from upper red circle) exactly the same as on the 2nd gen. as shown in the two photos (i.e., exact same location, 6 mm stud welded to floor)? If not, where exactly is it located, and what does it look like (i.e., how do wires attach)? If it is difficult to get to, what can you tell me (exact location, ease of access, how wires attach) about the junction block/door locks/power windows ground that I've also circled at the bottom of the figure?

Thanks for any help!

There is a threaded stud with a nut on it that is attached to the fire wall. When the console is removed, you should see it straight ahead. I believe it is further to the left side and has some other ground wires attached to it. the stud holds a support bracket for part of the lower dash. Hope this helps you out.

If all else fails, you could always just have them drill a hole into any metal part of the body and screw the wire on...

I asked the same question on another site and photos were posted of two ground points (threaded holes for 6mm bolts) - one on the side of the console about 6 inches aft of where the studs are on the 2nd gen. as shown in my photo, and the other is just forward of the drivers side door.

Skyhawk - I'd be interested in the one on the firewall you mentioned - where exactly would it be relative to, say, the gas pedal, or some other recognaizable feature.

And IR - you're right about drilling a hole - wouldn't be as neat as an existing hole or stud, but - you're right - if nothing else suitable, that would certainly work.

Thanks
