I picked up a chargold 1993 model when I owned my php a few years back, its almost identical to that car down to the gold wheels. I think chargold is the most common color for these models, what others were available?

-Chargold
-Candy Red
-Purple
-Blue

I know they also made the concorde and the LHS, did they ever make a Vision?

Vision was never made, the LHS, Concord, and New Yorker were all made, but only 1993-1996, because the company went through financial issues and was sold off before the 1997 was produced, even though they did make a few 1997 vehicles (I think that was after being sold, though).

The other color is black.

I will be posting pictures of them all (Intrepid) soon.

Here are the colors of the Intrepid models, they were only made in these colors for these years. All cars have the same casting date on the bottom, 1993, just the back bumper plate changed.

1993 Char-gold
1994 Blue
1995 Black
1996 Candy Red

An interesting listing here... http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-RARE-D...item2a264d0aaa

First I have ever heard of them. The price is downright SILLY, especially because they were never produced in that color as the real thing, right?

The headlight plastics are also different side to side... the amber corners don't match. Just seems confusing. I'd wonder if it could be proven they are actually from Brookfield. It is apparent that the models took a BIG decline from 1995 to 1996 - as the 1996 models were actually sold at the ToysRUs level of retail stores. I wonder if someone didn't buy up a shipping crate lot from China, and issue them privately as custom colors in small editions... This display box is that of the retail level, not the dealer level (as shown by the "diecast" sticker).

I like collecting them - but WOW, not at that price. I'll have to watch this one and see where it goes.

You and one other member really want a 1995 just like that. I haven't found the rattle can Spruce Pearl though like I found mine. Really, masking is not that hard, but it is the paint prep... I've got a few extra models I am going to be experimenting with trying to chemically etch for paint prep.

Tim - your car has body key colored moldings, doesn't it? Does it have the ES/Sport claddings, or is it just the fog bumper?

Just the ES bumper right now. I have the cladding in the shed, I just haven't gotten it painted and put on. I found a rattle can spruce pearl at the local Salvo Auto parts, its what I did my valve covers with.

Awesome - just get a 1993 model (most widely available) and paint it to match your car - the license plate on the back of the car is the only thing that is different year to year.

Looking closely at the pictures I'd say it looks fairly legit. Its either real or someone spent a lot of time and effort faking it. The two things that seem off to me are the corner lights like you mentioned and the box not having any reference at all to being limited edition, usually thats the very first thing they try to brag up on the box! Even if it is just a sticker. Either way, theres no way I'm spending that much! I'd send him an offer for half his starting price if I knew he wouldnt be ridiculously offended.

I'd also like to get a couple more to redo like my cars. I've noticed they dont show up as cheap as they used to but if you end up with a spare or two let me know.

I have a 94 model year one, Its missing a few plastic bits through. Maybe one day If I'm feeling destructive enough I'll take it apart and see what I can tinker. I'd love to find a set of proper scale model wheels that look like the 300m Special Wheels.

edit: A little digging, these are as close as I've been able to find so far.

Nice find on the wheels, yea, I want to take one of mine and repaint it again to match my car - with the correct wheels to my summer wheels.

What plastic bits are bad on yours? I'll try to make a how-to on taking them apart for you.

It may be legit that it wasn't just some kid with a spray can - but I do not think it was something that Brookfield did what so ever - because you're right, there is nothing on the outside of the box stating it is unique... unless the original box was lost and this box was sourced to hold it - but the fact that it is no longer wrapped in the factory banding to hold the doors and hood shut doesn't lend to it being original - but for that matter, it could be just out of box.

The paint on the doors on the driver's side are chipped... looks like secondary paint (as the factory paint is bulletproof IMO). The masking was done VERY well, as is the re-badging of the car. The mis-matched colors on the headlights is concerning, like someone tried to re-color them and gave up after just one. The underside of the car's panels appear to be painted with the same color (the hood hinge, for example), so it was a complete re-spray. It would be interesting to take apart the door panels and see if they too are painted on the hidden side. I can tell you the masking isn't TOO hard to do for the black sections of the doors and B/C pillars. One other thing that I find odd is that the model hang tag doesn't say anything about being unique - or at least it wasn't pointed out by the seller.

Interestingly, the glitter paint job doesn't look right on the car... the flake size is too big for scale - in real life the chuncks of glitter would be the size of dimes almost. Working with flake size really changes a look of something, especially when scaling it.
