When disconnecting everything in preparation for transplanting my 2.7, when I went to disconnect the booster vacuum hose, it was a loose fit - I mean a real slip fit - on the plenum vacuum port - see photos below. The rubber was oily and swollen - likely from years ago when the valve stem seals were bad and the engine ingested a lot of oil for two years before I replaced the valve stem seals when I did the timing chain/oil pump/water pump.
Gee! Do you think maybe that would explain why at times that car seemed not to have a lot of booster reserve and was slow to recover right after accelerating (I.e., low vacuum) or when the brakes were pressed a couple of times within a couple of seconds?
Anyway - if your brake boots seems a little weak and slow to recover at times, check this hose. And I definitely think the earlier extended exposure to oil did it.
