I just swapped a .40 caliber Beretta for a 2001 Doge Intrepid. the engine (2.7L) runs smooth, the body and paint are near perfect except for a small ding on the driver side fender. The inside is great with everything working as it should.
The downside to the car is the transmission. It sometimes goes into gear and sometimes it doesn't. The guy I got it from said it is the park/neutral switch that's bad. He had a used one put on and said it shifted fine for about 6 mos. before it started acting up again. Is this possible? I didn't think the park/neutral switch being bad would do anything other than prevent it from starting, or possibly starting out of park.. I'll probably be buying a transmission at the salvage yard for it, but wanted to know if he was just blowing smoke up my arse.
I just bought a 2002 Intrepid, and I Love it. I guess I've become infected with the Intrepid bug as I couldn't pass on this swap even though I knew I had probably bought into a lot of work for myself.
