Can the Innova Code Reader with ABS read our ABS c?

Can anyone tell me if the Innova Diagnostic Code Reader with ABS will pin point what wheel has the ABS code?

I have the ABS/Trac control off lights that came on. I saw in the archives about a special reader that the dealership carries. Was thinking I need a good ODBII reader.

So to answer this myself. Yes the Innova 3100 can read ABS sensors.

I found on my pile that both driver side front and rear abs sensors show to be in fault. The front one was recently changed and still under warrenty so I changed it again. No change on the reader.

Does anyone know if there are some common wire between both the front and rear abs?

Have you checked the wiring diagrams in the FSM for your year car?

And what year/Model is your car?

Yep I checked the wiring in the FSM and each Hall sensor to the computer or individual runs. Nothing tied together that I can see.

I was looking over the ABS module in the front of the car.

Anyone ever tear one apart?

I'm wondering if the computer/solenoid assembly can be torn apart without opening the brake hydraulic system? If not I'm not going to touch it.

While at the Junk yard I ripped out a CAB module.

The FSM is confusing about trouble shooting this. It sounds like you can't clear the codes by just killing power like you can with other controllers. It sounds like you either plug in a DRBIII or drive 3500 miles. I can't remember for sure but I replaced the front CV and had a sensor go bad. I seem to recall it cleared the code as soon as it was replaced.

The codes from the Inovas show both driver side sensors. The front is brand new and the back is brand old(junk yard). This tells me the issue is in the controller.

Im wondering if I can just plug in the junk yard one for a test. If it did work would the code clear right away. Since I would not be connecting the brake lines is there any concern with what it would do? Is the body of the CAB ground?

Thought I would post up some images of the ABS w/traction control CAB. I ended striping one of the tiny 4mm bolts and had to grind it off.

Those solenoids must have some very hi pressure springs. I could not budge them.

The pump on the other side came out ok. That round needle bearing stayed in when I pull the motor off.

Once I pulled the needle bearing these two rods popped out. This was the only time I got a drop of brake fluid leak out.

It seems to me that It is possible to change these pieces out and it would not open the brake system to where you would have to bleed the brakes. My next step is to figure out how the connector comes off and see if its possible to plug the junk yard computer into mine.
