My 2002 intrepid won't start

OK folks last week i started my car and let it run for a min at idle it was a very cold morning 40 below wind chill while it was running i ran back inside the house briefly when i got back the check engine light was on thinking it was due to the cold weather i continued on to work everything worked fine

later that day on the way back home the engine started to surge when it it got above a certain rpm then came out of it till the next day again started fine went to work then on the way back home again engine surged then came out of it got back into town i have 32 mile drive both ways the engine just dies i thought i might have ran out of gas i put gas in still nothing also the rpms were running about 200 rpm higher then normal till the engine stopped

not really sure what i should look for i got codes for all the injectors and all the coils and nothing else any ideas what i should do

if you have no power to the coils i would 1st check out the cam sensor.....the pmc must see the cam and crank sensor before power is openned to the coils and injectors......possible faulty cam sensor.

which motor do you have?

has the waterpump been replaced? if your over 100k miles and that pump hasn't been changed it is possible the timing has jumped.....but on a no start situation some of the things that will cause that are a bad cam or crank sensor....no fuel...out of time.

unfortunately the only way to tell if it slipped time you have to open the engine up to do so.

well i put in a new cam and crank sensor still seems to have no spark i took off one of the coils and put a plug in it and put it to a ground and saw no spark not if that was the best way or not to test that. theres power to the coils i checked the plug it is getting fuel and is brown in color so i believe they are good any ideas where to look next?

Corroded ground? When trep' was helping me rebuild my topend I took off the boxes on the ground @ the back of the heads the fuse blew +no spark. Maybe ur con.s are corroded .. ??
Just an idea if the cam and crank are okay, that would explain the prob.

If you plan on "checking" the WP just order a new one, gasket, timing kit, timing cover gasket and do it all. Suuuch A PITA

It may be that the coil will not work without it's base being grounded (by the clamping of the two mounting screws to the cylinder head). I'm not saying that as fact - I'm speculating that it may very well be the case. I'm thinking that one end of the secondary winding gets its grounding thus.
