2.7l 2003 intrepid wont start, clicks.

I have a 2003 intrepid SE with 110,000 miles on it. My car showed no signs that it had a problem, then I tried to start it about an hour after I got home from a trip out of town and it wont even try to start, Just clicks repeatedly and all my dash lights blink. A jump did nothing for it, and the battery seems fine, radio and headlights work fine. It reads no error codes. Any idea what it would be? I'm guessing it's the starter or solenoid.

Normally that would be signs of a dead battery, but since the battery seems ok and jumping it does nothing, you must have a bad connection somewhere. Power is getting through, but not enough to run the starter. Thoroughly clean your battery posts/clamps and also the positive and negative jump posts.

After you clean your jump posts (and not the outside of it - take it apart and clean the cables), and verify clean good tight connections at the battery, then the next suspect is bad cable to the starter or bad contacts in the starter.

It's gotta be a connection that supplies the entire car if the dash lights are flashing as the starter clicks.

Eh, it could just be a high resistance draw across the contacts causing the dash lights to flicker - could also be that the dash light flicker is just the dash lights turning off when the key is turned to 'start' - I know some cars kill all other circuits when you turn the key all the way - not sure about the second gen cars though.

The terminal connections seemed fine, after I tried to start it I waited about an hour and came back and the battery was completely dead, like I couldn't even unlock my car with the key fob. I'm guessing there is a short somewhere, seems like a dead battery but it didn't even attempt to turn over with a jump. I took it to a shop because I still have like 8,000 miles left on my used car warranty, might as well make use of it.

Translation: Since it was a no-go even with a jump, we all are still thinking it is a poor connection.

Did you check the jump post connections? You can't go by the appearance (you said the connections "seem fine" - that means nothing).

Since it's under warranty I wouldn't hesitate to take it back for free - as long as it is free, no $50 shop charge or whatever as a catch.

Was it a professional jump or a buddy using his car to charge yours? If it was jumped from another car it takes time to charge when the battery is completely dead.

Did you happen to try notice anything else electrical when you were trying to jump it, like the interior lights or radio? Small things should have been working right away.
