02 intrepid died in traffic wont restart HELP!

Hoping someone can help diagnose my troubles here its an 02 intrepid 2.7, 160k timing chain replaced with tune up about 10k ago.
So it popped a check engine light but didnt run poorly so few weeks go by and it starts hesitating at speed like 45-50 or so like the parking brake is on kinda feeling not accelerating but reving up still? hard to explain but it happened to my gf driving it not to myself, i think nothing of it then it happens again after almost 2 months of driving to my gf again.(she is the primary driver of the car)
So yesterday it dies in traffic after driving at lest 5 min she said it just fizzled out press the throttle nothing just went dead. So i tow it home and it was late at night when it died so i wait to the next day to look at it and it cranks kinda slow but backfires and kicks burnt smoke out the throttle body and puffs out crevices on the upper intake, wtf?
I hook up a code scanner and it spits out
P0016 cam/crank position sensor bank 1
P0172 system too rich bank 1
P0175 system too rich bank 2
P0441 EVAP emissions control system purge flow fault
P0113 IAT sensor 1 circuit high input
P0108 MAP/BARO circuit high input

I figure the crank sensor went out and it fouled out the other misc sensors cause of the smoke backing up? any other ideas or suggestions?

i would guess that the P0441 is probably what caused your CEL to come on at first. its the one thing that you wouldn't notice at all if it weren't for that light coming on. the P0172 and P0175 are probably a result of the codes for the cam/crank, the IAT, and the MAP sensor. I am unsure as to whether or not the IAT would throw a code due to a backfire, but the backfire does lead me to believe that the main problem would likely be the crank position sensor. I think I would try to find the multimeter test specs for resistance across the terminals of the crank position sensor and go from there. if the sensor is not within specs, then I'd replace the sensor, clear the codes, and then test run and check to see if any codes come back (other than the P0441 or any other EVAP system codes).

does it matter how it specified bank 1 when it spit the cam/crank sensor code? I know the cam sensor is on the drivers head an the crank sensor is on the pass side in the transaxle soif bannk 1 is pass side its the crank sensor?

Cam/Crank are not bank dependent.

swapped out the crank sensor for a spare outta same year/engine intrep and its not backfiring anymore but it still wont start, did the same with the cam sensor and same result. Now these arent known good parts but the crank sensor replacement did improve it, any other ideas??

I'd seriously consider that your timing may have skipped.

Verify it was a the crank sensor that helped - install the old one again and see if it gets worse.

Um.... Not a second gen expert - but in general, 1 tooth you're fine, 2 teeth you might get lucky... three teeth, well, you see where this is going.

Definitely sounds like a timing issue...I'd pull a valve cover and check the chain/water pump...if fuel/spark have been verified and crank and cam sensors are good...

hope its not a timing issue since the TC was changed only 10K ago.

Doesn't take long to make it skip timing if there was a tensioner issue that wasn't addressed when the TC was changed.
