Oil Filter Location

My car is a 2001 Intrepid with a 3.2L V6. I can't seem to find the oil filter....

TIA

It's on the drivers side of the engine, towards the front of the engine, right over part of the frame of the car. Actually, I think if you just find the oil pan, look on the left side of the engine even with it, it's just kinda high in there. Makes a mess when changing the oil, but not too hard to do (at least when using a lift).

Thanks...maybe I'll take it to Jiffy Lube... I used to have a ford probe gt and you could change the oil without even crawling under the car... it was a piece of cake.. was hoping for the same here.. guess not..

I think the 3.5 and 3.2 are the same. I don't have any problem with a jack and stands. A friend made an "adapter" for my jack out of a steel bar, that fits the center frame. Easy up, easy down.

The oil filter is in an awkward place though...

It took me a long time to find it too since MOPAR filters are black. It's cranked up in there on the driver's side. Once you find it you'll probably need one of those oil filter wrenches with 3 prongs on it, the longest ratchet extention you can find, and a ratchet wrench. It will tighten around the filter as you turn it counter clockwise. A bit tricky the first time.
If you change your oil and filter the next time and you hand tighten it, you'll likely to be able to get it off again without the wrench. It is especially easier with the coating on Fram filters. Take it to a Jiffy Lube or dealer and you'll need a wrench to take it off again. They invariably always tighten too tight. HTH.

Purolator filters have a 6 sided top, and you can get a big "socket" that fits it. Makes it real easy to get a hold of...
