working with an engine stand - lessons for a n00b

how do i dis-assemble a motor on a stand? i used all my might(headbolts etc) with the engine in the car.... i can imagine this stand is going to want to move around...... or heavin forbid fall over...

any tips? my first time using a stand. the buildup is obv. alot easier.

air tools!!! The weight of the engine will keep it from moving too much, I just used my foot to hold the stand if I had to reef on something.

I ONLY USED 3 OF THE BRACKETS??
how do i fit all 4? it seamed like they only went on the top. the 4th i was going to washer/nuts with that mounting hole its next to but i didnt want that tab to break off.

Never used a stand before, but I'd remove that third bracket, shift it to the second one to that tranny bell mount and place the fourth where the third was. Can't see as it is being an issue though!

Man that baby is black inside! Can't get over how dark the inside of the heads are!

The one on the right side lowest... Is the hole in the arm large enough for the engine's lowest dowel to fit inside? On the stand I'm working with, the two lowest arms are over the dowels and against the block with a bolt and nut through it.

i've even stood on the stand when torquing head bolts. keeps it from moving around.

The stand should support the torque of the head bolts. Might need to rest the stand near a bench to prevent the stand from circling around. Other than that no problems.

The supports should bolt to the two lower supports and two upper outward supports. I don;t have a clear picture, Adpros shows a decent pic.
