2004 Chrysler concorde MTC heater issues

Only have the high speed. Other thing I notice is that the A/C light won't light unless the blower control is on high.

Seems that it might be the switch, just ran the diagnostic test and it only will do the test if the blower is turned to the high position. Anyone have a schematic for the blower switch?

Most likely the blower resistor which is under the dash on the passenger side. You'll find a heavy green and black pair of wires running to it.

I would suspect that, the only thing that makes me doubt it is that the a/c light won't kick unless the blower is all the way on.

I took the rotary switch apart tonight, didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

How does the unit know that it is on? Are the two smaller pins on the switch the on/off switch.

have you tried running the switch from off to hi multiple times (quite quickly) to clear things out? Worked for the radio once.

Yep, I even took the switch apart and inpsected it, after I checked it with a meter also.

I need to look at my manual and see if I can find a wiring schematic. I suspect the 2 small pins might be turning the HVAC on, and then the larger ones are for the fan motor.

FYI - All communication to the outside world is thru the BCM over the PCI bus. The ATC communicates digitally to the BCM over the bus, and the BCM controls the blower motor, blend and mode doors, etc.

EDIT: Correction - I was thinking about ATC. MTC controls the blower motor directly. And control for the blend and mode doors goes thru the BCM over discrete lines, not over the PCI bus..

Thanks, the blend, heat and even the compressor work fine. I am just trying to figure out if there is something in the switch, or if it is the blower resistor pack.

Anyone who has lost the resistor pack notice that the only time the A/C light will come on is on the high setting?

What is the part number for the blower resistor pack for a 2004 MTC?

Thanks!

Well after some wrenching tonight, it is the resistor pack. Further info is that the A/C light won't come on as well on any speed less than high.

What told you it was the resistor pack?

Pulled the resistor pack out and took an ohmmeter to it. The thermal fuse is blown. I was able to jumper the thermal fuse and all of the speeds worked as well. Went ahead and pulled the blower motor out. It was a little sticky to turn. So I pulled the fan, lubed the bushings and going to give it another shot.

Now you need to figure out why the fuse blew in the first place. Then you'll be good to go.

I think you missed the part where I said the motor was a little hard to turn, lubed it up, fan was rubbing the housing slightly, so when I put the fan back on, I didn't put it on the shaft as low.
