Thumbs down 2004 Intrepid Vibration ??

First , I appreciate your time and help.
I've been driving and trying to shake down this 2.7 to
3.5 car as it's going to my son 4 hours away this weekend.
It has a very odd vibration thru the floor board.

Reply --- after hours of trying to find any play in the front end and
prying on tranny mounts , ect. It ended up being the front tires !
Dam winter tires , they felt smooth to run your hand over them, not chopped.

have you checked the motor mounts? I know this by experience but with a malibu that I use to have. It had bad motor mounts that needed replacing and sure enough it fixed the vibration problem, does it shake when your in drive at a complete stop? try putting it in neutral when your at a stop and if it doesn't shake as bad or don't shake at all when in neutral then I would suggest looking into motor mounts as another option? never hurts to check. good luck.

NOTE: also if I remember correctly if you turn on your heater or air-conditioning system while in neutral and it shakes it more then likely is a motor mount problem.

Hard to relate the two. The Intrepid mounts it's motor on two hydro-mounts (fluid filled rubber) in the same alignment as an old V8. Where the Malibu mounts it's motor side way and uses a series of steel brackets on a frame side rubber bushing - More like a Neon.

I recently had to replace a mount on a friends parents Malibu since it failed and the power steering pump was grinding on the broke mount. Turns out they like to shear bolts off into the block and the mounts snap. Chevy for ya.
