Quickstruts...Moog vs Monroe...What to do?

Might just abandon the idea of installing the Monroe Quickstruts I already bought and paid for that I've had for around two years still sitting in boxes and go with Moog Quickstruts. These were intended to go on my 2000 R/T and get all new suspension on it and replace the crappy Eibach lowering springs and trashed struts thanks to the Eibachs.

My reasoning on this is that the time frame where I purchased the Monroes is right in the middle of the shit storm where everyone that installed them was having major problems. Rather than install them...take them out in a month or two after they catastrophically fail and install Moogs finally...I'll nip it in the bud and just buy Moogs. Yes I'll be paying for new Quicktruts again but the cost/hassle/time of taking out failed assemblies shortly after install leads me in the direction of buying the Moogs.

I'll still be installing OEM strut mounts and bearings in the front pair. I already have those parts.

Sell the Monroe Quickstruts cheap on Ebay/Craigslist/Here maybe to recoup a little bit of my money vs the Moogs. If I list here..it'll be full disclosure. They're NIB(New In Box) and never installed....should be worth a few dollars! At least the rears which seem to hold up!

If someone is interested in the New Monroe set of Quickstruts I have shoot me a PM with an offer. These are still in the boxes and never installed. I paid well over $600 probably about 1 1/2 years ago.

What's everyone's thoughts on this plan of action?

I can't say it's a bad one, I went all Moog myself like you've seen. If you were to go Monroe, you could always exchange your front set for one of they "redesigned" sets, it might solve the issue, who knows.

Only problem I have with that is these came from Rock Auto and they might not be receptive to replacing them if they've never been installed. I'm thinking I can't deal with Monroe directly on the warranty replacement and they'll tell me to go through Rock Auto who will tell me they won't replace them because they haven't been installed and "Failed". Talk about a catch-22!

Actually, I called Monroe some time ago for a warranty claim and they were very helpful. They just told me to bring them to a local parts store that dealt in Monroe products and bring a warranty claim sheet along or something. Either way, I could see why you don't want to go through the hassle.

So where did you get the warranty claim sheet?

I'd talk to them on the phone first before walking into your local PepBoys.

Keep in mind I think the moog ones add a Lil more height than the Monroe for whatever reason.

I'm taking off shitty Eibach lowering springs......getting normal ride height and decent ride quality back is my objective.

Thanks for the link Steph. I'll look into trying to get the front pair warrantied out even though they've never been used. I don't want to go through the expense and hassle of installing them and then remove them just to get the warranty!

Just throw them around in the dirt a bit, then spray some salt water on them and leave them outside for a few days. They'll look used

What did you not like about the Eibach springs or should I say what made them so bad

I only ask because I thought I seen where some people liked them and was wondering if they had certain pitfalls. I have seen intrepid's lowered and loved the look and was hoping these would be a good way to get that. I may be leaning toward the HR Springs
