I'm pretty sure its coming from my power steering pump with the car running in the reservior it appears to be not bubbling but the fliud seems to be just moving around. Its really trippy and annoying and I rally can't stand it no more. What can I do to fix it the dealership sent me coupons for a power steering flush and bleeding would that help. Its a 2000 dodge intrepid the 2.7 V6 and is it common for these to blow a little black smoke on starting but only for a couple seconds?
Thanks for any help

No bubbles, man-- just red fluid moving around is right.
I'd try jacking up the front wheels, and with the engine off, turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock 20 times or so... That'll get any air out of the system..

A flush wouldn't hurt. The PS fluid is supposed to be changed every 60,000 miles.

I just flushed my system myself recently. The PS system is noticeably quieter and a squeek has stopped. The Chryco dealers are now using ATF +4 for the PS systems. Even though the manual says not to use tranny fluid (my manual was written 6 years ago), I guess they've found that ATF +4 is a good choice after all. ATF +4 is an extremely high quality lubricant.

Good luck.

Yeah took it in ends up being belt tensioner bearing... Stumped me but now they pretty much made me get fuel injectors cleaned as well as a synthetic oil change and for a total of $399.34. What do they do when they charge you to clean injectors do they just dump a bottle of injector cleaner in the gas tank???

If its done right. they have a machine that is put inline with your fuel. It puts like 50/50 mix of say SeaFoam and gas. It runs for a cycle it cleans out the crap. Tell them to stuff it, you can do the same thing yourself. As for Syn oil. Ok. Its a great change, but if your not going to keep it that way. Why bother. Some engines actually create oil leaks. If you make the change to Syn oil ealry on. You should be good. but, if you have a lot of miles. The damage is done. Plus you take the chance of getting a oil leak. Now this could be known to the shop and they are waiting for you to get a oil leak for them to fix and make more money. Smart really.

Personally if I wanted to switch. I would only do it to a new car with a baout 10k miles on it. I have my reasons why I would do it this way. But, its early I must go to work :frenzy:
