P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

Can someone explain to me what this is, if its major/expensive to fix?? I looked up what a purge valve was and this is what I got, I'd like to think i know alot about cars but i dont so I dont get everything in the description. I still have no idea where this part is or how bad this problem is but its causing my CEL light to be on all the time now. PO441 is the only code I got with the key trick so i know this has got to be causing the CEL light to stay on.

EVAP System Description:
In this Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control System, purge flow occurs during non-closed throttle Conditions. Purge volume is related to air intake volume. Under normal purge Conditions (non-closed throttle), the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is open to admit purge flow. Purge flow exposes the EVAP control system pressure sensor to intake manifold vacuum.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION:
This system controls flow rate of fuel vapor from the EVAP canister. The opening of the vapor by-pass passage in the EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve changes to control the flow rate. The EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve repeats ON/OFF operation according to the signal sent from the ECM. The opening of the valve varies for optimum engine control. The optimum value stored in the ECM is determined by considering various engine conditions. When the engine is operating, the flow rate of fuel vapor from the EVAP canister is regulated as the air flow changes.

COMPONENT DESCRIPTION:
The EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve uses a ON/OFF duty to control the flow rate of fuel vapor from the EVAP canister. The EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve is moved by ON/OFF pulses from the ECM. The longer the ON pulse, the greater the amount of fuel vapor that will flow through the valve.

Could be as simple as tightening your gas cap. Possible bad EVAP cannister/purge valve, or leaky vacuum line. Won't really have any effect that I've noticed. The wifes trep gets that every couple of months. I pull the fuses for the PCM in the under hood power center and it goes away for a month or so.

Ive tried the gas cap thing before it actually worked as well as putting in higher octanes of gas. But I guess I'll try pulling the fuses, I hope it works when i go to sell my car a CEL light doesnt exactly help sell a car. Thanks Dodgaholic i didnt think of pulling the fuses.

There are 2 10amp (red) ones in the power distro center under the hood, on one side, by themselves. I can never remember which one is it, since they are both PCM related. Pull them for a few minutes, and the CEL will go out.

no, off...

also, you could just disconnect the neg battery cable, by the 1st way you won't lose the clock, or radio presets.

I would say no to when the car is on, possible short? My car has had the same thing ever since we got it 4 months ago, itís been in the garage about 4 times now looking for the prob. At first it wasnít filling properly, stopping every 2 seconds. Got that fixed, then it wouldnít stop and end up overfilling and spilling. Brought it back in, told us that the gas tank needed replacing. Once that was done it was ok for a 600 mile trip, the next morning the light came back on . Went back and told me that an appointment is going to have to be made for another shop because he does not have the proper tool to diag. that code. Now Iím stuck with the light, its weird, I found the TSB online and Iím not sure if itís related to it, I hope to get this fix't soon. Hopefully this helps you somehow, you may not need to get you're tank replaced. Just thought i would put my 2 cents.

Lot's of people get that one, so don't feel all special
Eventually I'll nail it down, but since I checked and reseated all the vacuum lines, it hasn't come back. That's probably 6 weeks now.
