Question How much antifreeze ?

I´m planning to change the antifreeze of my trep this weekend, as far as I know I should buy 10 Liters of a new one... it´s that correct ? If so.. which one should I buy ? Because I don´t have a clue ...

just buy 2 gallons of antifreeze, and two gallons of distilled water and make sure you use a 50/50 mixture. You will have some left over.

Cooling system holds 9.4 quarts.
A drain of the system will not remove all the coolant.
I think one gallon of antifreeze and one gallon of distilled water would do it.

From the FSM

The radiator draincock that is located at the lower
right side of radiator (Fig. 4). The draincock stem is
closed in the horizontal position, pointing to 3:00
o’clock. Draining takes place through the cooling
module’s lower right side insulator. Do Not Use pliers
to open draincock.
CAUTION: Do not pull outward on the draincock
flange while opening. Damage to the draincock
body and O-ring seal may occur
(1) To open the draincock to the minimum drain
position, turn the draincock stem countercolockwise
to the 12:00 o’clock position. For the maximum drain
position, turn draincock stem counterclockwise 180
degrees to the 9:00 o’clock position.
(2) Remove coolant pressure bottle cap and open
the bleed valve.
(3) Remove the cylinder block drain plug(s) located
below each exhaust manifold.
Most service drains are about 80 percent of capacity
because not all coolant is drained from system.
For capacity specifications, (Refer to LUBRICATION
& MAINTENANCE - SPECIFICATIONS - FLUID
CAPACITIES)

Along with what's already been said, do not pre-mix it 50/50. As stated, our system capacity is 9.4 qts. So drain what you can, flush with distilled water, and drain again. *Then* add 4.7 qts. of the pure coolant (not pre-mix). Top off with distilled water, bleed, and top off again with distilled water after running it 1/2 hour (not just idling - drive it around with some normal driving engine speed) and bleeding it again. By definition, you will then have 50/50 mix. That would be impossible adding premix into a system that is already partially filled with just water.

Once you have the system full and stable, then you can premix to have on hand to add if any needs to be added for whatever reason.

DO NOT just use any antifreeze. USE ONLY G-05. That would be from a Chrysler or Ford dealer (G-05 is Ford's official antifreeze too), or get Zerex G-05 from a parts store (careful - Zerex makes several types of antifreeze - make sure it clearly says G-05 on the container - may have to try several stores, or have one order it in). Mopar G-05 is reddish orange. Ford and Zerex is yellow. But same stuff.

Do not let the auto parts store guy tell you that Prestone All Makes All Models is the same. It may be OK, but has not been proven yet. Definitely do *NOT* get Prestone Extended Life™ (AKA DexCool™).
