Transmission problem 2.7 L

So I drive a 2004 intrepid with 2.7 l engine and it has about 147k miles, and recently my car started to stop changing gears when I accelerate to fast. I know it's one of the sensors but any idea on which one it is?

UPDATE: I messed around with some of the electrical wires connected to the transmission (unplug some and re-plugged them) and the check engine light went away. The car drove perfectly 30 miles this morning. So if you have transmission problems like mine try this before you spend a couple hundred dollars replacing sensors and more.

If it's one of the two transmission sensors, if the speedometer works normally when it's stuck in 2nd gear, then it's the input speed sensor. When the output speed sensor messes up, the speedometer will quit working. Unlike other powertrain sensors on these cars, the aftermarket speed sensors generally work fine.

1" open end wrench works well. A 1" socket with extensions can work, but sometimes there's too much stuff in the way to get a straight shot. The sensor bodies are plastic, so just slightly snug them - their o-rings seal them.

Do you get a Check Engine Light when this happens? You really should get the codes read by Auto Zone or somewhere similar for free. You might get lucky replacing a speed sensor but it might also be something else in the transmission causing Limp Mode.

I went to O'Reilly's and they told me it was the control module the code was like p0700 or something, however the code isn't specific it just says transmission control module.

P0700 is worthless. That just tells you the Transmission Control Module is requesting the Check Engine Light for underlying codes.

AutoZone or Advance Auto should be able to get the underlying codes.
