i suppose this is where it all starts at.
i peeked into the bottom of my block to see the damage, looks bad, but should be viable for a stroker.
i'm going to be going slow on this one :money:
its 115 during the day and dips down to a low 100 at night.. another reason progress is going to be slow.
i started the tear down, checking out what i got to work with.
i found the bearing in the oil pan, i was expecting that though.
pics to start the party with :deejay:
looks like the thrust bearing.
bottom
not too beat.
my other "ride" in the background!!! MOPAR or NO CAR!!! haha living it.
im still re-reading th other 2 threads to decide if im grinding block or end-caps.
Well, you know what the bottom end looks like now. Kinda curious why the bearings decided to just give up. Judging by how brown she is in there, I'd say poor lucubration and maintenance.
I had the block squared, which means decked and line honed to true everything up, the block was hone to .001 oversize to be better able to run nitrous. There are no off the shelf oversized piston so, I am using stock 4.0L pistons which are the exact same size as the 3.5L pistons just the rod length and wrist pin location is different. The mains are stock 3.5L size with the 4.0L crank mains reduced by almost 0.200 to fit the 3.5L mains.
Yep, looks like line boring is the best way to go for your block. Thats pretty nasty for someone to run it to the point they ground thru the main and into the block webbing. Yikes!
trany fluid tube.
throttle cable.
main wire harness.
random brackets, and a/c compressor bracket
injector rail
timing covers.
motor mounts arms for the block.
and a good block my other block wasn't up to tolerance.
Mine cost $720.00 a couple years back for the port & polish which included the 3 angle valve job. Yours price doesn't sound too bad to me if it is a good shop.
are these intake plenums useable on a 2002?
obv from a 99-01
and I compulsively bought the 4.0 cams without thinking about the gear end.
should I return them or get the nitro/pacifica timing gears?
probably not possible to cut the ends correctly?
The plenum's is kinda a hard ball. The EGR valve opening need to exist, or be closed pending on which year your swapping too and from. Also, the High Output equipment runs on vacuum (older models have a huge assembly on the side of the motor for this) and the newer ones electric. If memory serves right, you can swap them for the electric or vacum one. But I never had much luck with the bolts cooperating.
As for the throttle bodies, I've always known them to not be compatible, due to the sensors. I have an 02-04 one kicking around with everything still. LMK.
The camshafts, well I read a lot on them as they were my go-to planned upgrade. Read a few different things and it all escapes me at the moment. I believe you can get the Nitro/Pacfica gears. But I also recall that you have to swap the tone ring?
DMONDEAC can confirm this, he's been there and done it.
I personally started planning on getting the Inherita cams, they offer three stages, shooting for the v1.2 (stage 3), but need too do some "mods" to accommodate it electronically.
