The original lines are a bit rusty (funny because nothing else on the car is rusty), so with my conversion from regular ABS to ABS w/TRAC I would never get the old brake lines off of the controller without damaging them.

New brake lines arrive Friday.
I gave my local dealer a call to see what the cost would be for a complete brake line set for my 99 Trep. Man was he confused, (or rather I don't think he wanted to look up each individual line) Is there anything to this? I mean should it be that difficult? Shouldnt they just take the VIN# and look up a set?

They looked them up right off of my vin. They come as 5 separate brake lines, you have the 4 lines to each wheel, and the master cylinder lines, which come as a set. Should be pretty cut and dry.

Part numbers are:
4779065-AB -- master cylinder set
4779749 -- drivers front
4779748 -- passenger front
5083038-AA -- rear line
5083039-AA -- rear line

My car has ABS, and they may be different for a non-ABS, doubt it since they just route them into a distribution block instead...but you may want to double check that if you dont have ABS.

I was very surprised they even sold them, and they werent discontinued. If you still have trouble I can get you in touch with a very good Chrysler parts guy that can get them for you, but shipping is a bitch, if you saw the pic of when I brought them home.

Thanks Dan,
I'll give him a call and see what he says.
I'm sure these part numbers will help!

Axle removal question

I will be pulling my 2nd 3.5 engine. This time I want to pull the engine with the trans. still bolted up. I noticed that when you did it, you disconnected the axel's at the boot. Instead of pulling the axel's out. Which I assume is faster! But how do you put the axel back together, after reinstalling the trans?

Thanks for the help.

Normally I remove the axle from the transmission. That axle was seized to the transmission, I couldnt separate it, so I removed it via boot. The axle had to be replaced. I dont recommend pulling the boot apart unless you are planning to replace the axle.
