Thinking I'll bring along some Beat Farmers CDs to the Fall meet. I'll bet they'll be appreciated.

Well, I've seen 'em on the TV, the movie show
They say the times are changing but I just don't know
These things are gone forever
Over a long time ago, oh yeah

Today we're reviewing the Refurbished Sony Network Media Player.

This device is similar to the Western Digital Live and Roku players. Got this for $29.99 shipped. Retails for $99.99 new. Good thing I didn't pay much more for it! Anyway...your typical streaming player for Netflix, HuluPlus, Pandora, YouTube, etc. Also streams media such as videos, music and pictures from your other PC/Devices. 1080p output via HDMI. Also has component and composite connections. Ethernet 10/100 connection along with Wireless B/G/N.

Netflix client works well and is better than the Roku and not quite as good as the WD Live. Crackle works fine. Haven't played with the other clients yet. Music streams well..but interface is pretty clunky. Remote is small and works well with very good range. Box itself is compact and can be placed just about anywhere. Overall a decent buy if you pay under $50 for it.

Stay tuned for more P.A. Product Evaluations in the future!

Being that is a Sony I wonder if it will allow stream ripped recent Blue Ray (cinivia)??

That's good to know but Sony is a big booster of cinivia protection, I'd be worried it would log itself online and upgrade it"s firmware and make the cinivia a real bitch.

If it quits doing what it's supposed to do...then it goes in the trash.

Ran across this on the web regarding Windoze 8...thought it was funny.

"If you were talking about Windows 7 you could claim, hey $199 OS for $30 is a better deal. But Windows 8 is NOt Windows 7, it's (let's face it) a malware riddled MS cloud based turd wrapped in Windows colored paper... You get it now for $30 and 5 years from now if they suddenly decide to go subscription... you pay Microsoft for the rest of your life to keep features that Windows 7 gave you per-installed."

This is a step up from trial ware.

I'm not an Apple Fan boy myself even though I own a few Apples but I agree with what he said. No Windoze 8 on my machines unless you can get rid of that dumbazz Metro UI. If you don't have a touchscreen it's worthless.

Like I said earlier...I want to see what the fools in Redmond actually leave in the OS. Right now it looks like they're trying to push for a release that doesn't have a lot of the features that earlier Windows versions had included. Those "missing" features will be available in their online "store" at additional cost. I'll wait for the actual release before I say anything else. Right now I've tried both of the release candidates and took them off in a few days because they were worthless for how I want my machines to look and operate.

not an apple fan either(too limited), and as far as win8, if i wanted a phone ui, i'd get an effin phone. when i sit down to a desktop computer, i want a desktop.
i can see a long future with win7. just like with xp, bypassed vista til something better. may even have to jump into a linux distro.

lol the Metro UI in Win8 is not an "effin" phone UI. The desktop performs exactly the same, if not better, in Windows 8.
