Will sell processor/mobo separately from the rest. Or mix and match with the RAM and/or Video card. Pictures available on request! Includes all the boxes/software/manuals/cables that came with the items.

Seeing as this "Lynnfield" processor is a quad core in the i5 series, it doesn't have Integrated Intel HD graphics like the i3 and the dual core i5 series so you need a discrete graphics card. The motherboard has the connections for VGA/DVI/HDMI if you install an i3/i5 processor with Intel graphics. Socket 1156 BTW! The i5-750(without heatsink/fan) runs about $150 by itself on Ebay to give you an idea of pricing. I'll consider reasonable offers on all these components(much less than retail/Ebay!)
Sounds like a good setup for an HTPC/HMS. How much for the whole bundle? (MB, CPU, RAM and the vid card)

It's funny to see these new little boards with all the video connections and NO native on-board video chipset... leaving it up to the newer style CPUs (or APUs) with integrated graphics GPUs.

But the more I think about it, for an HTPC setup, I think I'd rather use a processor with the integrated graphics over an add in video card for two reasons; one, the noise level. Not using a discrete vid card means one (or more depending on the type of card) less fan which equals a lot less noise when you're trying to watch your favorite movie.. and two, heat. The MB and processor are putting off enough heat as it is, add a video card to the mix and it's like having a little toaster oven next to your TV lol. Intel's Ivy bridge with the integrated HD graphics and AMD's APU designs draw a lot less power/run cooler..

So how much for just the motherboard and the ram?

I wonder how it would run with this Clarkdale. Thoughts?

Waiting for power to be restored. Posting from my Motorola Atrix and lapdock. I like how the battery in the lapdock charges the phone while it;s in the dock

I'd say go for a Mini-ITX mobo rather than a Micro-ATX for a HTPC/Windows Home Server or Media Server. You can get a smaller case that way if you're not going for the Stereo component look. You can then get a socket 1155 Mini-ATX and use one of the even cheaper "G" series Sandy Bridge dual core processors @ 65 watts. I just happen to have one of those setups almost ready for sale.

The i3 Clarkdales are Hyperthreading whereas the the G series Sandy bridges aren't. The i3 Sandy Bridge processors are Hyperthreading but you'll pay much more for one. That won't affect HD video playback even for Blu-Ray.

I've got this HTPC almost ready for sale if you're looking for the stereo component look. Based on an AMD APU with dual core processor. Micro-ATX mobo. Plenty of room for expansion inside. And a 7" LCD Touch screen.
