Germans are influencing chrysler to use few engines to many platforms. SO far, Chrysler has used few platforms to many engines.
May $0.02 is that today's 2.0L, 2.4L, 2.7L, 2.8L, 3.0L, 3.3L, 3.5L, 3.7L, 3.8L, 4.0L, 4.7L, 5.2L, 5.7L, 5.9L and 8.2L (did I miss one?) used over approx 15 or so models platforms will be
Tomorrow's: 2.4L, 3.5L, 3.7L, 5.7L and 8.2L (Viper or Truck)
over 20 platform models.

The Germans are saying (My G/F Worked at the Benz Factory in Boeblingen)
that USA sister company is using waaay too many engines and none of them perfected over too little model platforms. Cars need to be designed around their engines, and not the other way around.
