F1 Team Boss doesn't understand NASCAR

F1 Team Boss [McLaren] Ron Dennis say's he doesn't understand NASCAR and it's popularity. He say's Formula 1 has a better show and that NASCAR is boring as hell. As Ole' DW would say....Let me splain somethin to ya....it is simple...NASCAR is a fans sport...the drivers are just like everyday joe's and the racing is right in your face, up close and personal.....you don't even have to watch a F1 race to know that most of the times Michael Shumacher will win the pole and the race without even getting a tire mark on the side of his car. You get to see the F1 cars go screaming by a few times every 2 minutes or so where as in NASCAR you get to see the car around the entire track with close [real close ] racing. As the saying goes....if I have to explain it, why bother!!.....

there you go...i hate formula one...all it is is a bunch of uppity-yuppies running around complaining that they keep losing to Michael Schumacher, then the driver with the points lead gets a weight penalty added on? thats a good incentive to want to win the race

The BIG difference between F1 and NASCAR is that NASCAR has actual CARS!. Drivers behind the motors, V8's, normally aspirated, and fenders covering all 4 tires. F1 drivers's don't matter, its all about how much power you can get out of a car. In NASCAR driver's talents actually matter because the cars are 'supposed' to be some what equal. Plus when in F1 racing do you see 3 wide with less than an inch apart on a banked turn? And when all 3 come out of it with out a scratch on em? That is TALENT!

Screw F1, any one can take a go cart and stick a big motor in it and go fast. :p

yea, but nascar doesn't have cars that come with anything close to the engines they are running...thats the only glitch on NASCAR, and F1 makes it no secret that they are full-bred racecars...but i still hate that stuff....nascar is so much better...and being front-engined isnt a requirement for race cars...the saleen S7-R has the driver in front, as does the 360 and many sportscars that can be double-dutied as racecars

Screw F1 if you are not rubbing your not racing. If they so much as hit a dixe cup they fall apart. Only a few teams seem to win all the time. Boring with the same guy winning all the time. Nascar does a very good job of trying to keep all the cars and teams on a level playing field.

Well that is true now, but they used to use the same motors as on the street cars. And the point I meant by the engines being in front is that F1 just uses FWD motors in the rear of the car as NASCAR uses standard V8's in the front of the car on a RWD car which imitate where the engine is on the actual car.

i like CART, they are very fun to watch, mostly because i think that circle courses are boring and cart goes through city streets, airport runways, road courses, and the occasional loop. the lesser semi-stock circuits are also very fun because they use actual cars like the mazda rx-8, corvette, audi a6, porsche 911, etc... the rx-8 teams actually take a car off a showroom floor, take out the interior seats, put an auxiliary roll cage and put on slightly larger brakes, they keep the instrument panel, shifter, and most of the drivetrain. it is pretty cool how little they do to get it race-ready...

PS- lol call me a tree hugger, but i also like CART cause they run on methanol fuel that is derived from wood and releases less than ultra low emissions

not to advocate F1 racing or their choice of vehicles, but they don't try to be road cars, so on the actual car, thats where it goes...its proven that for handling and such, the engine being mid-or rear can be better...but i still hate that sh*t

do they run a cart race through your city? it is soo fun...last year, they opened the season in St. Pete, and i didn't even bother going down for the actual Cart race, it was all the other series that came with CART, like the American Trans-Am series...thats what i liked..the American V8s that know what torque is..but you go anywhere near downtown, and you could hear the races, its wonderful...hopefully with the sale of cart, st pete will get our race back in may...
