Inside Door Handle

On our 2003 Concorde LXi, the driver's side inside door handle has been cracking for a year or so. It finally gave up and broke. I tried gluing it when the crack started -- massive fail.

We had to replace the one on the passenger's side a few years back, and as I recall, the cost was surprisingly high (over $200 for the piece of plastic). But that was probably Mopar, and I expect it's no longer available anyway.

So has anybody got a recommendation? Are any of the aftermarket ones any good?

Thanks!

Is it just the handle? Or are you talking about the "Cup" mounted to the door panel with the handle, etc.

What color is the door handle?

You're better off looking for an entire door panel.

Even if you could find the Cup assembly it's plastic welded to the back of the door panel and you'd have to be able to remove the old one and melt the "new" one onto the back of the door panel.

Last time I ran a bunch of the door handle part numbers they were discontinued and very expensive, there is a TSB where they are available separate, best bet is finding someone parting a car or a junkyard. I do know that Dorman does make the door handles with bezels but not sure if they have wood ones, probably just regular colors like for Intrepids

I gave up scratching my head this morning and ordered the Dorman part (82094). It LOOKS like it should be fine. From the picture, it seems like you're supposed to drill out the plastic welds and attach it with the provided clips and/or screws. We'll see.

Update/outcome:

I ended up ordering the Dorman part. It looked just fine. I took it to my mechanic for installation. I didn't hear any complaints, so I guess he didn't run into anything weird. (But then, he's used to working on old English sports cars, so....)

I had him do the timing belt/waterpump etc. while it was there, since it was overdue with regard to time (but the car has only 82,000 miles on it).

Now everything is fixed, my baby is happy (it's her car) and I'm a lot poorer.
