Fog lights

Kind of related to my previous thread, But different at the same time. I got my main headlights sorted out finally.. But was wondering.. Since my stock "fog" lights don't work was thinking about replacing them.

But with what? I mainly need something with a WIDE patter and by wide, I mean REAL wide. and can preferably be mounted in stock locations. Biggest issue I've ran into is those "Fog Light kits" at Walmart and Autozone are more of a driving beam than fog beam, And are meant more for mounting on trucks or cars that sit higher off the ground.

Tl;dr: What are some good aftermarket FOG lights with a WIDE beam pattern?

Really? That's not what I Was told. I was told they are supposed to be a "low wide and flat" beam pattern and driving lights are supposed to be narrow and straight.

You want to illuminate the road as far ahead of you as possible, with as little reflection of the fog back into your eyes. Should be mounted very low, and aimed very level if not pitched down slightly.

I see. Well, why is it in alot of cars I get when I turn on the stock "fog" light it seems to illuminate VERY wide and not a beam?

What pair would you recommend to fit into the stock locations on a 300M?

I'd recommend the ones that belong in the stock location of a 300m.

I think you may see a wide beam of light because yes, the light will scatter - and the fogs are mounted low to the road, not up high like the headlights - so the light that is scattered to the side is that much lower and will feel as though it illuminates that much wider - just a guess though.

Might be interesting to actually use some fogs in fog that are mounted up with the headlights, like a 1st Gen LHS... but I'd want to experiment by unplugging the main headlights so that JUST the fog lights work... to see what the real effect is of headlights vs. fog lights.

Sadly the stock ones were busted when I got the car.. I guess there was a light collision with the front end and it busted up one... The other was badly pitted / fogged over. I guess I'll go on eBay. What wattage bulb would you recommend?

Look on here for someone selling Fogs - I'm sure Ron had a set or something...

Probably had factory fog light bulbs with it.

Otherwise, I guess I like the SilverStar lights. To be creative, you might try out some HID - but that's a pretty small housing. Maybe some projectors would look good in there?

I've looked in the selling section - Didn't find anything. So I'm gonna go on eBay probably. Or Just search with Google.

You might post a "wanted" posting in B/S/T.

Also, I edited my post you quoted, in case you didn't see it.

I actually saw a pair of projection "Fog Lights" at Autozone once. A steep $40 for them, Dunno if they are worth it. I see / hear lots of people telling me to I can or to do a projection conversion /retrofit on my regular headlights / fogs.. But never how.. Unless they mean changing out the whole system.

Cean you're correct, I still have my used original 300m fog lights. Just need to clean them up a bit.

I also don't recommend putting HID bulbs in the 300m fog housings. The heat generated by the HID bulbs will probably melt the plastic. The 300m fog light housing are much smaller than the Intrepid so there's not much room to work in there for mods.

And here comes Ron!

Dana44 - I've bought from Ron before, you will not be disappointed in what you get.

Whenever I turn on my fogs (quite a rare occurrence, but it does happen) I notice that I have the equivalent of dual cornering lights with them on!
