SOmone help me out here, im going down the freeway and im going around 80, i get on the gas alittle and all of the sudden i fell power loss, i get on the gas harder and my rev keep falling. So i stay off the gas for awhile then when i go to get back on it i find my car is in nutral, i look down and its in drive, hmmmmm so i pull over on the side of the free way, turn my car off and then i start it agian, i try to burn um and i realize i have barlly any power. And then as i go down the freeway realize im in 2nd at 10 miles an hour and i let it go through the whole whole gear and at 90 i hit 6.5 k and it wont shift. My car will not shift out of 2nd, the only gears that are working are park nutral revrse and 2nd gear, what the heck is wrong here, i check my trany fluid and its ok, so i ask again what the heck is going on. Please help me. i have abused my trany so much from now on i will never do a nutral burn out. God damit, well i have a warrenty 100$ dedcut. Please help:angry:
ive probely done 30 or 40 nutral drops, the day this all happend i put new intake in my car, i talked to a place and they said that its ether the trany or osme conector rod. When ever i put it in revurse i hear i werid noise, also when i put it in drive, and i have found that if i put it in nutral before i start it 1st gear works until i shift to second then it gose back in to nutral for about 5-10 second and then shifts into second, i have a warrenty so if its going to cost me alot i jsut have to pay 100$, but i dont have 100$ i jsu tbough cristmas stuff and a new box and a amp.
I think it's just your transmission input sensor, about $25 for the sensor, 30 minutes in your driveway (if you do it yourself) and you'll be back in business...for now
you can't expect any tranny to put up with 30-40 neutral drops
Yes this is the infamous limp mode. As JoeKD has said it is most likely the input sensor. Get a new imput sensor ... refill with some ATF 4 and then ... if funds permit ... I would seriously consider installing a Tranny Cooler at your local tranny shop for around a hundred and twenty bills .... Its well worth it ... Hot trannies are known for our cars...
Consider yourself lucky if it's only the input sensor. IMO your tranny is toast--like mentioned above: clutches and/or seals. Hope for the best and maybe no hard parts were damaged.... Chalk it up to experience.
A little side note: I imagine many of us did questionable things to our cars in the past. For example, I went through 3 clutches on my first car (5spd corrola) many, many years ago. The 2nd failure was so catastrophic I literally shattered my flywheel. Needless to say, my next several, treasured paychecks went to the mechanic.
do u think afyer all those nutral drops it could only be a sensor????? And what is the atf 4 stuff????? Also i noticed somthine more when i started my car this morning, i notice that when i would bring the whell 3/4th to the right or the left it would make a werid clunking noise, i checked my power steering fluid thats all good, and it hasnt done it since, hmmmm any sugestions.
