Hey guys. Gettin ready to change the struts on a '94 Eagle Vision. I have done this before on other cars. I just wanted to know what can be expected. Thanks again for the help.
You replaced your own struts all the way around? 1st Gen? How difficult was it? The local shop wanted to charge me over $500 w/ tax to replace my struts! I have a Haynes manual... I would be glad to buy the struts and replace them myself if that's possible. Thanks.
The bolts that clamp the bottom of the rear struts are often frozen.
The front struts are fairly straight forward.
I'd suggest taking the strut assemblies to a local garage and having them compress the springs and change the strut cartridge over to the new ones.
Check the top plate bearings while you are in there.
You will need a four wheel alignment.
jsfram has a good point. While you can borrow the necessary tools from many parts stores you can in many cases get the springs transfered to the new struts at the store for a fee. I've seen sales on Monroe SensaTrak struts at my local Murray's where the transfer fee was $5.00 per strut.

Shops around here wanted $800.00 for all four replaced w/ alignment. I'm having a guy that has done other jobs on my car and my fiancees car do it and it is going to be closer to $450 after alignment. Fu(kin a$$hole mechanic shops!

You are so right, I just replaced the rear struts and will begin the front this weekend. Easy job. After alignment $350, provided nothing else needs replaced.
I have been looking all over for a bushing that fits into a bracket on the side of the strut. Not carried by autozone, advance, or pep boys. Out of stock at the dealer. I find it hard to believe that I am the only person in need of this bushing. Anybody no where I can locate this item?
