I am Considering replacing my 1995 Intrepid with 124,500 miles for a 1996 Intrepid ES with 86,000 miles. I can get it for $3500 with the trade in of my car. I was just wondering if you guys think that this is a good idea. I am heading off to college next year and want a car that will last the 4 years. Thanks

By 1996, all 1st gen ES's had the 3.5L standard, but I think $3500 is still kinda steep to upgrade only one model year. Is it loaded w/options?

IMO it sounds like a good idea. I purchased my Trep for 4300 with 61500 miles on it and it isnt that loaded but it works good for me. Good luck

Sorry, I may have misread the original post. If the car is only $3500, and in good condition, then IMO go for it.

If it’s $3500 plus your '95 trade-in, then it’d only be worth it IMO if the '96 was fully loaded and in outstanding condition.

All just my opinion of course....
