I was looking at http://www.advance-auto-parts-online.com and saw they have plastic fenders and metal fenders. The plastic ones are alot cheeper.
Was this a yearly change thing? I know some treps got metal and some plastic, whats the reason behind this. YB or Otto etc?
Lets face it we live in a plastic world now, one good thing about plastic is it never rusts! My car has plastic fenders, they don't dent like metal ones.
I had 1 metal and 1 Plastic when i got the car and then i got side swiped and they had to replace the plastic one. They told me that the only replacement ones were metal. so now i have 2 metal ones.
They make a huge difference in accidents, I was in a good accident in our 1994 New Yorker and thanks to plastic fenders there was very little viewable damage.
If I can remember correctly, (YB or Otto would know for sure) the first year or two of LH's (1st Gen) had plastic fenders, but they changed them to metal because of problems. My 93 Concorde had plastic fenders, but my 99 Intrepid were metal.
The 1st gens all came from the factory with plastic fenders. The metal ones are used as replacement parts, after accidents for example. Thanks to a deer, i have one metal and one plastic. If i would have known there were plastic ones still out there, i would have asked for one. Not sure why you would want metal, especially in an area prone to rock chips, animals, salt, other people's doors, and rust. Definately go plastic.
The one Plastic fender I had was warped so i was happy when i get side swiped and it got replaced with a metal one
