Whenever I use the remote to lock the car and arm it, it honks the horn. I was wondering if there was any other options to this, like can I set it to flash the lights and work in silent mode instead?
its not really a loud honk, plus if any "thieves" hear it they will be deterred, hopefully. it does that even if they dont have a alarm. but i dont think you can change it.
Too late for me to start researching now...but I do beleive you can turn the horn off on arming...look in your manual..Im not sure where I saw it...you can change your door locking process also
My factory manual says the honk can be enabled and disabled.
I have a 97´manual.If you want I´ll have a look at it and check how it works.
I think you have to ground the no. 1 pin of the datalink connector to enter the programming mode, and then cycle unlock/lock on your remote 3 times.(At least for the 97´,but if you want to disable it I will check it again to be 100% sure so you don´t mess up your BCM!!!)
But I think the honk may really prevent thieves from the idea you car is an easy target.....
