I have a 1996 Trep that was wrecked before I bought it. It was a front end crash that blew out the air bags. The people that wrecked it put as little money into the car as possible which meant not fixing the air bags, and super-glueing the flaps on the steering wheel back down. What I want is to be able to simply put a new cover on the wheel, and not a new air bag. I have never done anything like this and any help would be greatly appreciated. Anyone know a good place to find this cover?
if your not going with an airbag why not just buy an aftermarket steering wheel? they look cool and perform good. they just hurt like hell when you crash.
Well, the guys at my local service center said it costs around $2000 for a new air bag, canisters, and sensors. All I really need is the part of the wheel with the Ram on it. The junks yards around here don't have anything for the Intrepid.
I got pricing at fivestarairbags.com.
The set (both abags) for a 93 Trep was $250
