Bent Fuel Door

Apparently, a while before I got the car, some careless person had walked into the fuel door while the previous owner was filling the car, so now the fuel door juts out slight and there is paint chip that goes straight to the bare metal where the door was rubbing against the body. I've tried to ignore it in the last week and a half that I've had the car, but it's just so unsightly! MY dad doesn't want to have it fixed because it would cost more money for unnecessary repairs. What does anyone think I can do to make it look better at home? I tried to bend it back in place, but only got it far enough to not rub against the body anymore.

If the door arm is metal(too lazy to go look at mine) then it will be easier to bend it back to proper position. If plastic, have fun. You can touch up the two dings next to the door to hide the chips, but the indentation is another matter.

yea the arm is metal, i was able to bend it a little bit to keep the door from catching on the body where that bigger chip is, i'll probably end up doing what power pro suggested and take it off, then bend it, cept is hard to bend it back when it tries to close on me while bending it. man that guy couldn't have bent it back in the first place? coulda not had that bigass chip there.... oh well
