Hello all. I have a hole in my catalytic converter that is about 2 inches by ½ inch. I was wondering if there is a high temperature tape or epoxy that I could plug the hole with. I don’t know anyone who can weld, and don’t really want to pay Midas or someone to repair it. They’ll probably try to sell me a new converter or something. Thanks for any input.

Due to the rare metals inside a catalytic converter, the federal government says it is basically illegal to repair them and new ones must be purchased in case one is externally damaged like yours is. Just make sure you're absolutely positive the hole is in the actual converter and not just in the shield below it. The shield can be replaced or just thrown out and driven without.
