I have seen on the search feature info on changing out the inner tie rod bushings, has anyone had any real problems on doing this? I am going to attempt it over the long holiday and hope it corrects my "clunking" problem....I also was wondering if maybe it was the sway bar links....Any comments??
did them on the old car, easier to remove the plenuim, careful with the vacuum lines on the back of the plenium, as they are brittle and break very easily. once that is removed, we used some shop towel in the intake ports to stop anything from fall down inside. you can then unbolt and remove, and bolt in new intake bushings.
I just recently changed my inner bushings, I have the 3.5L so its kind of a ***** to get to the inner tierods.(make sure engine is cool you will be spending some time in there.
Also you will need a (I believe a 7/8 socket or the metric equivilent) shallow socket, because there is not much room down there.
Yes your sway bar links could also be your problem, I would also check the engine cradle bushings.
Yeah I have heard it's pretty shallow in there. I had a friend tell me to use one of the new Craftsman gear wrenches. Better turning radius and narrower tool...
Thanks!!
wish I would have had one of those gear wrenches, probably would have saved me an hour,LOL
well good luck on the repair and welcome to the site, this is one awesome place to be!
