I bought a 1993 3.5l Intrepid yesterday, love the car and it as a great deal... Its got 180K on the body, and ~85K on the engine, and it seems to loose power after 3500 RPM. If anyone has any insight, it'd be greatly appreciated!
It was reciently tuned up, including plugs, wires, injectors, among other things. Without really knowing anything specific about the car I'm wondering if it's something like a secondary intake runner not functioning, or something like that.. and if I take it over about 4000 it makes an exhaust crackle.. not sure how to describe it..
well thanks neway. for the sake of it feel free to throw out what ideas you have. If nothing else, it'll give me a jumping off point.. I'm no car genius, but I just prefer to have some idea what I'm gettin into before I get started. I've never done any real work with a V6 and have mostly been an import guy... I did some work on my 2.2l sdime, but nothing involved.
just a few shots in the dark.....Low fuel pressure. Extremely dirty air filter. Incorrect valve timing. previous owner may have changed timing belt and screwed it up. Not only do the marks on the sprokets have to be lined up, but if someone loosened the cam sprockets, then the sprockets would no longer be lined up with the cam(s),and is a hemmeroid to correct. A compression test could tell you if valve timing is off.
