Pardon my ignorance, but what does RICE stand for? I see it every where in the forums, and i can't figure it out.

Found this on another site:

What is a ricer you ask? Well for most of us here, a ricer is someone that not only owns a vehicle imported from Asia, but a person that knows very little if anything at all about automobiles and speaks or acts as if they are hardcore racers (usually drag racers). Typically ricers will put stickers all over their cars to imitate professional racecars that have sponsor stickers. A ricer will often modify their car with simple and easy to install parts that may or may not be beneficial, and claim outrageous performance gains without fully understanding how or why that part affects their car. An example of ricer behavior is joining discussions with people that have experience and knowledge on certain topics and arguing about that topic without even understanding what they are arguing about. Ricers do not understand how silly other people think their actions are and typically do not learn anything about racing, eventually growing out of the fast car phase in their lives and move to other hobbies.

Hope that helps :p

How about the "broken car" phase that some of us occasionally visit? :D

So if you put stickers, an airplane wing and fart can muffler on an American car it's not riced out? See if you say it's only cars from Asia it goes back to being a racial thing to me.

Yeah, alderrab, i thought about that, too. Yes, there can also be domestic rice as well.

Haven't seen an Intrepid riced out yet... but I have seen a few Mustangs, Neons and Caveliers with stickers and fart can exhaust.

There are a few riced Intrepids on this board. One jumps to mind, but I can't think of the guy's username. It was a 2nd gen, with red decals over a white body.

I have 3 decals on my Intrepid. I don't think that makes my car "Ricer material".

What do the stickers say?

rear left window: Calvin (from Calvin & Hobbes) praying at a tombstone with "FDNY & NYPD & 9-11-01" on it.
I plan on putting the DI.net decal on. But I need to take one of the above down. Becuase I don't want my car to have 50 decals on it.

There are a few Intrepids on here that are right on the line of being considered "Rice".

It all depends on what those decals are. I have a DODGE decal on the windshield and added a couple R/T emblems, but that isn't rice. Now if I were to add Type-R emblem, that would be rice. Or, if someone were to say, add an R/T emblem to an ES model, that would be rice. :)

This is the only sticker I have on it, and it's realy an emblem. So if you want to call it "rice", so be it. I like the way it looks, and it is a original Chysler part.

To me, "rice" is a modification that is done in poor taste, such as covering a car with decals for companies that don't pay to advertise on your car. Another example would be someone who hooks up dual exhaust to a car, but doesn't hang them evenly, or, even worse, only has the original pipe working and not the additional one. Also, a gigantic spoiler with stock wheels looks ricey to me. Note that these are all personal opinions, but most people seem to be in general concesus with these ideas. There is also a more domestic version of "rice" that was, in fact, around way before rice. It is known as "skanky-ass trailer park ride." This is typically done to older Camaros and Mustangs, not to mention Chevelles and El Caminos. In addition to that, you have "ghetto" which is also known as "lowrider." Pretty much every culture has their own version of "rice" but, as always, the white kids are ripping it off and making it mainstream.
