Have you heard of this stuff? Wipe it on / off and it's supposed to be the greatest thing out there since the invention of the wheel. Has anyone tried it?

They have an entire product line for every aspect of detailing. It is very costly too. I was wondering if I should shell out some duckets for one bottle as a trial of sorts. If no one has tried it, I may have to be the ginny pig.

I have used Zymol in the past. I would say most of their products are very good but I do not think they are any better than Meguiars products, you will pay more for Zymol. There polish is real nice except it is a bitch to work with...always leaves streaks on my black car...have to go back over it with a damp towel and wipe dry to get out the streaks.

I believe the Zymol products you see at Target/Walmart/mass auto stores are repackaged turtle wax products or mass produced cheap Zymol...I think they are partially owned by turtle wax or have some kind of marketing agreement (not 100% sure). May be worth trying one of their better products if you are willing to shell out $$$.

My opinion is...you will not be missing much if you don't try it...I didn't find it any better than other top quality products. I avoid it now because it takes more time to work with because it streaks...I also found it does leave more dust/residue than others.

What is so good about Meguiars? I have used many brands before and I don't notice much difference. I have been using Mothers as of late.

It's used by most of the dealers and recommended by most of those manufacturers. However, Chicago TRS is correct, the Zymol products you find in local stores are the bottom of the line, not worth the money ones. If you want to try Zymol drop the $100 on the 4oz bottles and try it, but I think you are spending more money than it's worth.

I've used both Mother's and Meguiar's and I think they are very comparable products. If you're happy with the Mother's stuff I'd stick with it. But if there is a type of product you are looking for that Mother's happens to not make, then I'd take a look at Meguiar's. I've been using Meguiar's on my cars for about 4 or 5 years and have no complaints...

Most professional use Meguiar products just because their quality speaks for itself. I have used mother's before and liked them as well. I just prefer Meguiar's because all the fine products they make and I have never had a problem with them.

If you are going to drop big $ on some Zymol product, why not go for the gusto and get one of their more, shall I say, exclusive Vintage Estate Glazes ($1650.) I also just read on their site that you should always wipe off their product before it dries, and then go over it again with a dry cloth.

viperman,
I think you'll find from most folks here that both Meguiar's and Mothers are highly regarded products for the money. Take your pick, and ya can't go wrong.

I have chosen Meguiar's because of their readily available products both on-line from their web store (http://www.meguiars.com), as well as within local auto stores. As well, I've really liked their professional products that are becoming as available as their consumer products. Costs more, but does an even better job, especially with the gloss black finish of mine that can be a real bear to keep in "like new" condition. And finally, I really like the good technical info that Meguiar's provides on their web site. Some really excellent reading!

And lastly, check out this link to another document in this section where a consumer user of these types of products performed some really excellent tests between Meguiar's products and Ziano's products (another very expensive product line similar to Zymol). His tests are very convincing, with picture proof. This one persons test convinced me that the Meguiar's products are an excellent value, and as such I've stuck with all their products and have been extremely pleased:
