With Mercedes-Benz's 6 speed auto and their 3.7 liter V6, they are getting awesome performance.

Only 1 second slower in 0-60 than the US SL 500.

So if the LX gets a 300 Hp 3.5 V6 and the W5A580, maybe 0-60 can match the Accord V6 performance, it undoubtedly will be 500 lbs heavier than the Accord.

I would sooooo love to have MB 6 speed auto with the 2.7 in the intrepid, yesterday.

I didn't know the 3.7 was available in this country as of yet in a mercedes.

Not to burst your bubble, but D-C will not get the MB 6 speed auto for now, just the 5 speed.

Yes but the 5 speed we're getting is the same as the 6 speed, but with different internals. Basically there's one gear taken out. So.... the 6 speed can bolt right up.

It might bolt up but it will not plug in. Electronics are more difficult than mechanics.

Good, because the gear ratio coverage on MB W5a580 sucks. Only 4.3:1 (lowest to highest gear ratios)
The 42LE has 4.1:1, GM's 4l60e(and 65) has 4.4:1, Chrysler 545rfe has 4.5:1 and the old ZF 5hp19 4.9:1, Acura TL/CL 5.5:1
ZF's 6 speed auto has 6:1 and so does Audi's multitronic, Nissan Xtronic (in Murano and JDM Maxima-Teana) has 5.4:1 (has torque converter)

are you talking about final drive?

1st gear overall ratio?

he is talking about the ratio from 1st gear to final gear.
if first gear as 3:1 and final gear was 1:1, then the overall tranny ratio would be 3:1. If final gear was 1:2, final ratio would be 6:1....
