Went back to Rockfalls drag strip 2 weeks ago. It was nice and cold 38deg. Made 14 runs the best one of the day was 15.131 at 94.89 mph A lot of them where in the 15.39 to 15.47 range 92 to 93 mph. I still ran the best with out the auto stick. Just but it in drive and power brake to 2,800 rpm. Every body there was getting good numbers. A buddy of mine with a Ram SST ran a 14.78. Last time he went he ran 15.31 best. His SST really liked the cold air too. I am thinking of getting a Cuda shaker hood scoop for my R/T. They make one for the Dakota`s. I am going to just buy the shaker part and try to mod a ram air to the TBI. It will be a winter project hope to get it done for The MOPARS IN THE PARK car show next June.

Man, that totally rocks! Wish it would get cold in Hawaii!

As for the cold air intake, it might help a little, but if it's hot out it still won't work as good as if it was 38 degrees outside. A cold air intake doesnt work like an intercooler on a turbo, it doesnt actually cool the air, it just helps you get the coolest air possible from outside the car, so if it's hot out, you're still gonna get pretty warm air. If I'm not mistaken, our airbox is already set-up similiar to a cold-air intake, it could just a bigger hole through the fender.

Well, I guess we'll just need an intercooled turbo setup than!!!! :D

Thanks guys, bboucher part of the reason for the hood scoop is for the car shows. It won`t hurt getting cooler air at the same time. No you do`nt want to get colder there. In a month or so it is going to be colder then a polar bears left nut here, and snow up to our ass. And the traffic worse yet. The candy ass`s around here see a snow flake they all start driving like 100 year old grand mothers. Nothing like getting up in the morning and going out in -30 degs and seating on a ice cube cold seat. You get off work and go swimming i will be shoving and blowing snow for 2 hours in the cold, GOD i love Minn winters.

Spook, I know how that goes, I grew up in upstate New York. Not any better there.

I was directing the cold air intake comment more towards warlord though, I would love to see how the hood scoop looks. A functional ram-air set-up would make our cars even better on the highway!

I wish there was room for an intercooled turbo in our engine compartment! Not that the wife would let me get one even if there was :)

bboucher dont give up hope yet. I meet a guy last week in St.Paul MN street racing. He had a early 90s Honda 4door civic. Looked stock, but under the hood was a 437 hp turbo 4 banger. He had the dyno slip to back him up. And i just saw him smoke a new ZO6 vette bad. This thing does low ll`s with little 14 inch tires. He works for a local speed shop. He has a degree in auto something. He does custom turbo charging he said for $1,500 he could set me up with a turbo for my R/T. I want to do it, but i have to get it past the wife. I well be on my knees all winter begging her. And i know this well kill my warranty. I still trying to make up my mind what to do?

I'll have to watch out for that guy!

save all your pennies and then when the warranty expires you'll have enough change to buy a custom turbo.

Hey Spook - that guy can work with 4 bangers and turbos a whole lot easier than he could even dream of with a V6. Don't forget that we have exhaust dropping down on BOTH sides of our engines, so you'd probably have to twin turbo it. Otherwise you have unequal exhaust pressures from side to side. AND, don't forget how freakin' crowded it is under your hood. If that guy is at all serious, have him post a msg to us with his ideas, I'm really sure that if it could work there are some of us (me) that would love to talk to him. He did a heck of a job getting that kinda power from his Civic, so who knows? Thanks.

Before doing anything to our R/T's that is going to drastically increase the HP, I think it would be wise to beef up the tranny somehow or just replace it if possible. Now you are getting into some big bucks with the Turbo plus the Tranny. Is this really going to be cost effective ? We all know the stock tranny is costing us some serious performance, right ? I don't know of any cost effective ways to improve the tranny. Maybe OTTOWRKR can give some insight on this topic.

i've heard of two 300Ms, one with nitrous and one that is pushing 379hp and from what they say neither one has had tranny problems YET. i haven't heard how much mileage is on either one of these cars, and there's also no tellin how many times, if ever, the nitrous has been used on the one, and also there's no tellin how many times the other guy has popped the top on all of those horses. as many here can probably attest to, i've made my personal opinion quite clear in the past...i wouldn't go with a lot more power with the stock tranny. just remember what opinions are like...

The wife said no turbo :( . She heard about my 150mph run on 35w with the Mustang. Was not very happy with me, got the grow up your not a teen any more speech. But the cuda shaker scoop is a go. Called Pro Line they said a $120 for the shaker and $31.50 for the base plate. He said they just did a custom one for a Neon and it came out great.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask... What's a shaker kit???

SPOOK R/T

In 1970 the Cuda`s came with a shaker hood scoop ram air unit. The shaker scoop is attached to the motor so when the motor shakes the hood scoop does too. The name shaker is for the hood scoop. Use old timers know about this old stuff.

Stew bored out TBI 70mm, cone KN, cut the baffles out of the air box, blocked off side air box. Dual exhaust only one big Dynomax muffler, anti foaming for the tranny.

Sorry guys ,we just install the trans not build it. For some info on trans you should ask the other DC guy on this site Jeff aka jwc553911 .He works at the trans plant in Indiana . Maybe he could find out ways to improve them.
As for winter ,hell I have you all beat I live in the Great White North.
