Was at my local Chrysler dealer yesterday. They had a 2005 300M parked next to 2004 300M. Dam it looks like a sports car (the 300M) parked next to a Ram truck (the 300C). The first time i have seen them side by side. The body of the 300C looks huge compared to the 300M. A lot of people were looking at them.

I'd love to see a picture of them side by side. I'm sure the M looks like a Lambo compared to the C. But then again, the C looks like Bentley. ;)

Spook, I totally agree. The dealer by be did the same thing I told the manager if he thought is was a good idea to do? The next day they had them seperated.

I'll buy a 300M before I buy a 300.

It is a shame the 300C is a better car under the skin. I just wish they didn't put such an ugly skin on the thing.

I agree, I find nothing wrong with my '99. I'm NEVER going to sell it.

From what i've been "hearing" the Charger will be a very nice car and a lot of it will be like the C not like the Magnum.

The 300C should have been called the LHS. I am still waiting for a true 300 letter car to come out. (Hemi, two door, and covertable option) Not the four door. Look back the 300 up to L were all two doors not four doors. They should have slaped a hemi into the Sebring. and called it the 300N. Calling it the 300C was another mistake considering the MB 300 letter series (back in the 50's) and there was already a Chrysler 300C (1957).

What should they have called the M?

The Vision or M+2.

Gorm, I am hopeing that they get some one who can style it right this time. So far they are 0 and 2 on the LX styleing department. It would be nice to see a design that looks like it didn't come out of a 25 car pile up.

If the 300C doesn't qualify as a real "Letter Car," I don't know what does.

Only the base car is just "300," the other cars have trim names. They are:

300
Touring
Limited
C

Although "C" should not have been brought into the game. The C was a 57 model, gorgeous car too. The Germans just don't get American Car Heritage. But then again neither does GM...I mean Impala, Malibu, what next a FWD Chevelle? At least name the car 300N.

the only problem i have is that they broke the chain...they showed a total disregard for the actual letter series...the new one should be the 300N, and it should be the convertible they showed in 1999-2000....that would be a TRUE letter car, and it had 2 doors...

Chris, if you weld the two rear doors shut, then it would. It misses the Letter car on this point.
One all Letter cars were 2 (two) doors, convertables, or hardtop. The 2005 "C" misses this.
Two they were known for being very stylish. Here again the "C" (brick) misses this. It looks like a 30 year old car.
The 1999 Chrysler 300 HEMI C Was the only car in the last 40 years that could truely be called a letter car. because it fit all the requierments.
Not just power. My question is what is the next one going to be called the "D"? or the "N", or the ZZ......... It is anyones guess.
The new 300 what ever you want to tack on to the end of it is a very fine automobile. But should have been called something else.

actually...the 300C (new one) is closer to the original styling of the 300 series..the M was the departure...and i like the styling...and so do alot of people

Weird. Because the whole purpose of letter cars is Bold Styling (which the 05 300 has) and a shitload of power. So the C actually qualifies as the N. But if you look back Chrysler did skip a letter for some odd reason. Like E or something..I'll have to look on that. Maybe we'll still get an N. Hell I'm intrigued by the letter cars. I'm reading a book on them now. Man 400 horses....*druel*

I don't think we'll ever see another large car in a 2-door version - it's difficult to find even small cars in a 2-door version. Coupes just don't sell as well as they used to and they're less crash-worthy that their sedan counter-parts.
I have no problem with the new 300's being in the letter series, they have met the modern equivalent of their old standards ... upgraded interior, high-output engines, sport suspension, sporty design, etc. I do think they messed up with the "C" ... it should be "N". People would recognize the relationship to the "M" and with this model they could really push the relationship to the old series since they're also building regular 300's ... If anything, they made a mistake with the "M" - it should have been a 300 with the "M" reserved for the 300 "Limited".
