So, I'm in for this year. Still need to book my hotel and shit, but I'll get it done. Who's all leaving when? When is the big Junkyard trip in PA this year? I'm not booking till I know who's driving when, I'd like to be paired up with at least one other car. I'll more than likely be traveling with a friend of mine in my car as well.

5 weeks and counting to finish A LOT of mods. Dammit.

I have my reservation starting Thursday, so I was looking to head down in the morning, looks to be a little over 5 hours driving, so I should be there in the early afternoon. Where would you like to meet up?

And you are right, not much time left for the mods.

i plan on leaving for the junkyard at 8 from my house thursday. I would say for anyone driving in to meet at the yard at say 9AM?

That would probably work for me.

I would make it a little later though. I plan on driving half way there on the 4th, finding a place cheap to spend the night, then meeting you guys at the yard thursday morning. How about making it 10AM? Eastern time of course...

Damn id still love to go but not too sure about the funds, My car is also in no condition to be shown, I was hit overnight not too long ago and need a new front bumper and fender as well as some paint work. And as loud98 said Id have no one to go with as well.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Most of the cars there are daily drivers. I have some many little dings and stuff on my car, if I'm going to win anything its going to be with the interior.

Sounds good on that end Bruce, I can meet you there around 10. I might get there early and take a nap in the parking lot. When I went in 2004 I took a 30 minute power nap at Hershey park when I got there and was good for the day.

So, who else is down for driving the overnight Wednesday Night? I have the RB1 this year, so screw the maps! Paging Scott...

I was thinking of leaving of leaving RI somewhere around 2:30-3 am. When I left in '04 Scott and I left Seekonk MA at 2:00 am and got to breakfast before 8 if I'm not mistaken, just outside Hershey Park. Since I don't need to be to the yard till 9, maybe I'll get to leave later. Bruce, what's the addy on that yard so I can start calculating?

I got my GPS working os I'll be navigating there all high-tech like. The voice guidance still doesn't work, but it still beats a regular map. I jsut need to figure out how to put a map other than CT on it!

Don't feel bad about the cash Derek. I spent $500 a few motnhs back on the audio which is mostly done, dropped $650 last week on mods, have to buy the items you know about, and I'm off to the dealer later to see what kind of a deal he'll give me because I need close to $2000 worth of factory parts to do the suspension and timing belt. I guess the wheels and tires will have to wait until next year because that's $1500 that I just don't have right now. I have to get working quickly though, because I have a bunch of things left to finish.

Ok, So for the past years that is has just been me in the lead and bobby behind.

Reasons I usually lead:
1. Ive been going for 4yrs (going on 5)
2. I Run my laptop with GPS for easier navigation planning
3. I try to be considerate of all drivers

Heres what everyone needs to caravan:

1. Get a FastLane/FastPass Transponder, we will be going through many tolls, and we dont wait for people who dont have it, so SUCK it up!
2. Two-Way Radios, a must makes for easier conversation across caravan(no we dont all have NEXTEL)
3. Cruise Control set at 67-69MPH, if you want to go faster dont follow me!
4. No complaining about my driving, if you do...Ill just speed off and leave everyone to find their own way.
5. The last car in the caravan will get over first when I radio to change lanes and the last car will allow all caravan vehicles to get in front of him.
6. We go the TappanZee($4) and not the GW($6), to avoid NYCishness.

Ok guys, I need to know what time you guys are meeting up and leaving up your way, and what route you're going to be taking. Ozzy and I live pretty close to each other so we'll probably meet locally. There are different places where we can intersect your route and I want to find the one that meets you the earliest but also minimizes how far we have to go out of the way. I think Derek mentioned leaving from Seekonk before. It looks like if you do that, you'll be taking I-95 down the CT coast so we could probably catch you guys around Bridgeport,CT. Otherwise, it may be best for us to meet you on I-287 when you enter NY.

LOUD02Special

00RT
06-30-2007, 01:29 AM
OK, there's a service area/McDonald's in CT after exit 22 on I-95S. That's a few exits after where Ozzy and I will be getting on 95. That's probably the easiest place to meet because it's right off the highway and not in a town or anything. If that works with you guys, give us a time on when you'll be leaving and where you're leaving from so we can figure when you'll be in that area. Once we know when you'll be at the service area I'll make arrangements with Ozzy to meet closer to home and drive down to 95 together.

I can't find a name because it's one of those stand alone palces with no address. It's right off I-95 past exit 22 in Fairfield. As long as you're taking I-95 down you'll drive right by it.

Is there a possibility, if need be, one of you can pick me up at the rest area and drive me down? I just made a boo-boo and may not be able to drive my car.

What kind of BooBoo? I know hank is traveling singularly, so he might be able too.

Well, I was pullnig the wheels off to clean the wheel wells and the lug holes. I had a ridiculously tight lug nut. I can't understand why because I always torgue them to factory spec. Anyway, I didn't feel like breaking out the imapct wrench so I was going to do it old school. I busted the chrome cap thnig off the end of one so I figured I'd jsut get the imapct wrench. Did the 1st 3 wheels in no time and went back to the one with the tight nut. I put the impact on it and it wouldn't go on straight becasue of the bent chrome cover. It ended up going on crooked and rounding the head. I still had a part of the head left but I figured instead of hammering the socket on it I would use a broken nut remover set I bought and was waiting to try. I got it on and after using a breaker bar and a pipe, busted the nut(hehe) loose. I forgot that I had lowered the jack so I wouldn't be cranking on the nut with the wheel off the ground. I removed the rest of the lug nuts and saw the tire bulged out and the wheel cocked. I still had weight on it! I panicked and jacked it up quickly. Amazingly, the single stud that was holding up the entire weight of that corner seems to be fine, as does the wheel and tire. I'm going to put it back together after I clean everything and hopefully it will be OK.

I'm standing there holding on to the tire like I'm going to take the weight off it or something LOL! I was afraid to let go to grab the jack and I realized holding the tire was completely useless. It's all back together now and everythnig looks OK. I guess I'll know for sure when I head out at 3:00. Now it's just wax and leather care and Arty will be ready. I still have to pack all my stuff though. I better get moving!

TEST DRIVE!!!!! LOL

It's raining too hard. I'd rather have it get all fithy on the way to something important than just around the neighborhood. I'm waxing now, I just came in for a sec becasue I'm sore. I wish I would have realized everybody details their car at the hotel because there is no way I'm doing it again!
